Moving the same day repeat to 10:30pm also won't have helped matters.”

The Friday night omnibus is not rating much lower than the Sunday afternoon omnibus as far as I can tell and the shares are similar.

The BBC3 repeat seems to be suffering more, I'm surprised half an hour has made so much difference.

The Friday night omnibus gets about 0.4m to 0.6m. The Sunday omnibus was getting double that.

Here we go!!!

Quote:
“Chris Aylott @ChristPA
Whoa! Biggest gap between #SCD and #XFactor yet. #SCD had 9.825m, 10.77m peak (43.4% share) vs #XFactor's 7.768m, 8.605m peak (33.3% share).”

How is that possible? Last night's XF was the best yet!

X Factor down 4.6 million on the same episode just two years ago. It's in utter freefall.

I watched TXF last night and aside from Dermot O'Leary & Louis Walsh - it was not annoying drivel......Maybe the 3 ciders impaired my judgement but I enjoyed it!!!

Very surprised at the rating, lots of fireworks going off last night.....expect it to bounce back tonight, at least 9.0m.....SCD would be less effected, I imagine most fireworks were going off after 8, although we had a local public display at 7pm....

Worth noting that ITV above includes +1, without it was 7.6m average and 8.5m peak. Also of interest is the percentage shares (which are averages, not peaks), 22.6m watching while Strictly was on and only 23.3m when X Factor was on.

Strictly's tape-checked rating, the one DS will report is 9.96m (43.7%) - https://twitter.com/Cod_Rob/status/265026093055102976

So you're telling me there weren't any bonfire parties at 6:30pm? Then again, the lot outside were doing it during XF

But I enjoyed the show last night, the performances were very memorable. I don't know how much it'll improve tonight, there may still be bonfire parties going on.

With +1 it may have scraped 8 million, but its still bad, viewers clearly aren't coming back... Has Strictly fallen as well it wouldn't had looked so had, but Strictly ROSE! They should use the last series in the current contract to try something else, new judges, maybe new element to format, but if next year has the same panel they haven't a hope in hell of winning anyone back.

EDIT: it didn't get 8 million, some wrist slapping at itv towers this morning, I think there was a higher rating episode of emmerdale this week! And strictly tapechecked to nearly 10m.

"Were very memorable", were you watching the show two, three or four years ago? They were more memorable.

I wonder how DS will spin the ratings for TXF and SCD.. ....off hand does anybody know the lowest overnight figure for TXF....and where last nights figure would lie?

Round my way, the fireworks started at around 6pm got worse at around 7pm, lasting tto around 10pm.

I didn't hear fireworks around my area until gone 8pm. It clearly shows X Factor is now in freefall. They'll need a miracle to get it back up to 9 million.

23m were watching during XF, so that's a higher TV audience than Strictly. Even with 8m, the share seems quite low with 33%. Maybe the 'fireworks' did dent it, and it probably will do so again tonight.

I believe last nights figure would lie as the lowest for a performance show since 2006/2007

Very good for Strictly - it dropped considerably between the Halloween week and Bonfire Night week last year. I wondered if it was losing momentum at all after slightly underwhelming numbers last week, but its back on good form again this week and looking very healthy.

It's a very poor number, though, for X Factor. Yes, the night itself is a reason, but it doesn't excuse the share - 33%, down from 42% on Bonfire Night last year...

As I believe the TXF Generation put it!

That's a trouncing, an absolute trouncing!

2.3m SCD lead!

All the fireworks round our way seemed to be around 6-7 pm, I really expected TXF to regain the lead, but it sank!

Could Countryfile out rate it tonight?!

Would XF's rating be a case of 'respectable under the circumstances'? Most of the time, the fifth live show has had a high peak but I doubt that tonight. In 2009 it was 16.6m, in 2010 it was 16.7m, last year it was around 14m and tonight will probably be at least 4m below that. Would people still be doing their 'bonfire parties' tonight?

Next week, XF is on from 8:05 to 9:50. Better scheduling and don't think there is anything that can hamper it next week.

Disaster for XFactor last night, its ratings keep going down every week and almost 2.5m behind scd. A completely embarrassing rating for Itv for a show which was getting 5m more viewers only 2 years ago. People will make excuses, like they have done since week 1 this series, but fact is that XFactor is dying. The show is in so much freefall now that no amount of panel changing or format changing will save it, the Great British Public have moved on. It was a cultural flash in the pan in 2009/10 but it is now unfashionable to watch this show and that will continue to remain the case in years to come.

This is maybe indicative of where XF is. Fireworks here started to go off 5 mins after SCD ended. A percentage probably made a decision they were not making a few years ago.
No one can say they are not poor figures for XF-major surgery needed for next year. XF USA is never going to be the force Cowell may have envisaged and the UK show in freefall. If XF USA is cancelled will he want to go effectively go backwards and return to the UK version? Next year could be make or break.
SCD once again excellent viewing but it is not as though its storming ahead of the past two years-XF is just in freefall.

Well, Strictly went through a rough patch in 2009 when XF was constantly trouncing it, as did IAC but they both picked it up as they went along.

I don't know what could ever save it. I think we could have seen that rating coming because of bonfire night. We should see a 'little' improvement for tonight because it is the result.
