Arrow continues to do very well for the CW. The numbers may be adjusted up.
So far for the CW, 4.14m, 3.55m and 3.47m.

Yes, disappointing really. I guess the only new returnable drama for ITV is likely to be The Bletchley Circle. Monroe & Homefront I'd imagine are almost certain for the axe.

The Paradise should get another run.

I actually dare I say it feel a bit sorry for ITV as they have at least tried to inject a bit of variety into their drama offerings. One thing they must do is try to develop some more original formats - Monroe and Homefront are both rather hackneyed, derivative ideas, whereas Bletchley Circle did actually seem to have something distinctive about it.

Ripper Street was supposed to start on BBC America in November but now it's being back until January. I expect the same to happen here. Some nature show with Richard Hammond is taking the New Tricks slot.

This Christmas the BBC was supposed to air 'the Moonstone' (3 x 60) but I have heard nothing about casting or filming. Has it been delayed?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Ripper and The Secret of Crickley Hall air at Christmas/New Year now.

Apart from the pre-launch it seems to have faded into oblivion media coverage wise.

I see Jeff Ford is stepping down as Director of Programmes at C5, is that because BB hasn't exactly attracted a new audience to C5's other offerings and the Marco Pierre White prog belly flopped.

Or is it that his work at C5 is done.

yes Dallas is doing fine by C5 standards but its hardly the break out hit, some would like it to be. The pre hype of Dallas was unlike anything C5 ever did before, but I cant help but feel looking back, that was more to do with the two original Dallas actors than anything else.

A shame Unsafe Sex in the City was not higher, but its a very good start, the higher ratings for TOWIE, is very disappointing, and shows why the BBC needs a channel like BBC 3.

Not been reported anywhere. DS will probably update with the numbers at some stage, but no idea when.

On another note, I was pleasantly surprised by the coverage Hatfields & McCoys got in today's papers. Hopefully that can start well despite the unfamiliar subject matter, lengthy opener and two established dramas for company in the 9pm slot (albeit not hits).

Some new daytime dramas starting in the next few weeks:

Nick Nickleby starts 5 November at 2.15pm (5x45) on BBC One.

Crime Stories starts 12 November at 2pm (20x60) on ITV1.

http://www.itv.com/presscentre/press...s/default.html

(although don't understand the logic of making this overlap with Doctors)

I see 999 has been given another new title "Crime Stories" and a whole bunch of ex soap stars. If this is meant to be documentary esque, it would be much better to use new faces, makes it more believable.

Still think its odd they are going to re use Sun Hill station, but apparently not name it that.

ITV3 have picked up a Canadian drama series - Bomb Girls.

Do they still show any US imports - seems to be largely ITV's detective drama archives making up the schedules nowadays.

...or Neighbours - together the two soaps capture 30% of the audience in their shared 1.45pm slot and could dent a drama that starts at 2pm. Surely 4pm would be better for Crime Stories - they're currently only airing repeated docs in that hour and it would be opposite low-rating children's programmes on BBC One; on the other hand it would then have to contend with 1m+-raters Deal or No Deal and Breakaway.

Cheap and nasty programme, but if this was on ITV or Channel 5, the BBC brigade would be saying what a cheap, useless show. I really think this is BBC One's peaktime jump the shark moment and I hope it stiffs. Next up we'll have repeats of Bargain Hunt.

We've already had one: That's Britain!

To be fair, we don't know the nature of Pound Shop Wars yet: it's a bit early to judge it when we only have the title. It could be a hard-hitting Panorama exposé...

This is the blurb for it:

Quote:
“Pound shops are one of the fastest growing retail sectors, boosted by consumers keen to bag a bargain in economic hard times. This documentary follows the extremely rapid expansion of two family-run retail businesses, as they both race to dominate the high street. Hussein Lalani is determined to expand his 99p Stores business north, bringing him into direct competition with Yorkshire-based pound shop chain Poundworld. Poundworld MD Chris Edwards, meanwhile, is keen to open more stores in the south. And both companies have to compete with the UK's largest pound store chain, private equity-funded Poundland. Can the 99p Stores expand quickly enough to retain their market position, or will Chris's Poundworld chain catch up? The two family businesses are in direct competition - even opening some stores right next door to each other - but who will come out on top?”

ITV1 should switch The X Factor to Wednesday at 8pm - it might see a boost against that...

Ah, yes, That's Britain. With its Talk To The Wall feature when people could text in the things that annoy them and they would be displayed on the wall. And That's Britain! was displayed.

It was a sort of fore-runner of Panorama doing an expose on Newsnight. The BBC eats itself.
