3 UK - early upgrade fee
Hi guys
I have been advised by 3 UK that I can upgrade for free in Aug 2013 (when my 2yr contract expires) or I can pop into a 3 shop and pay an early upgrade fee and change my phone now. Does anyone have any idea how much the early upgrade fee is? Thanks |

All networks use the term 'early upgrade fee' to mean 'buy out your contract'. In other words they want you to pay off the remaining line rental for the rest of your contract in one sum and then they will give you a new phone. Early upgrade fee is a very misleading term.
so say for example you are paying £30pm with 10 months left on your contract your early upgrade fee would be £300. And as far as i'm aware you can't do this sort of stuff in a store. Only on the phone. |

Early Upgrade on 3
Tigercrane you can do your early upgrade in store. Ive just done it. Its probably easier if you do it in store as well.

Agree with jabbamk1, it's a misleaing term.
However, the good news is you won't pay any VAT, as it's illegal to charge VAT on a service that has not been provided. So based on jabbamk1's example, the actual fee would be something along the lines of £250 but it's still an expensive thing to do - I'd ask myself is it really worth it? I know it's probably great to have the latest phone but think about it first

BEWARE
if you payout for an early upgrade you won't be entitled to any "special offers". |
