I lurk on the missing episodes forums, never post as I don't really know too much about the art of film collecting but this post cuaght my eye.

In short it appears something to do with Power of the Daleks has been found in Australia but that the official announcement is being held off until the 50th anniversary. Now things like this are rumoured all the time, but this time the usual people havn't been as quick to debunk rumours and people "in the know" seem to have let slip there is something there.

Whether it is the whole serial, 1 episode, just censor clips or utter rubbish is yet to be seen.

How awesome would it be though

For some reason it stars out the web address. All one word. "pro" then "boards". No idea why.

I'd love it to be true but I'll believe it when I see it.

That would be the most awesome thing that has ever been awesome. Still, it remains to be seen.

I've read the who thread over again. It appears Anneke Wilks said something at a convention and got shushed by her minder. It has been denied by Paul on the forums a couple of times and the thread now locked.

Something is obviously going on. Last year they "hid" the recovery of the two episodes they accounced for the Missing: convention in December. Paul has hinted at something DW related fans havn't seen before so maybe Anneke had crossed wires.

... so maybe Anneke had crossed wires.
Well they'd have asked her to do some commentary or something, surely?!

I would have thought any recent discoveries since the last two episodes that were found, would now be kept over to announce around the time of the 50th. Short of finding the final episode to the Tenth planet, finding one of Troughton's first story is abot as good as a discovery could, if they have found it, I would think it will be just the one episode, considering it was shown weekly and not in omnibus form.

If true this would be excellent though, there are not nearly enough complete Troughton stories out there, especially from series 4 and 5

For me this would be better than Tenth Planet! We know what the regeneration looked like, but the post-regeneration sequence is long lost.

But if there is something from Australia, seems more likely it would be censor clips ... and yet, it also seems there's very little in PotD to be censored.

If Anneke Wills had said something (then got shushed) there would be multiple people talking about it/confirming that it happened on every Who board online within 5 minutes of the Q&A being over. It's not something that could be kept quiet.

Hope springs eternal I guess, but I don't believe this.

She was supposedly talking to a small group of fans at a bar when she was shushed.

Not that I think there is much truth to this, either someone just made it up or wires have been crossed.

IF THIS IS TRUE THEN I WILL BE SOOOOOOO PLEASED!!

Power of the Daleks is my favourite Dalek story and its missing... THINK HOW GOOD IT WOULD BE IF IT WAS FULLY SURVIVING?!?!?!

But if its utter rubbish then I wont be suprised to really mind because it works fantastic from recon anyway but it would work EVEN BETTER if it was fully surviving

But I'm not betting one way to the another, I'm just going to wait and see until our 50th

Same here.

I've got the POTD soundtrack CD, and a couple of short clips on the Lost In Time DVD box set. One clip has the Doctor, Ben and Polly come across the Daleks with cobwebs on them, and another has the Daleks rushing about one by one saying 'Exterminate all humans! Exterminate, annihalate, destroy!"

If I remember rightly, the original BBC1 trailer for this in also included on the Lost In Time DVD box set.

That's about it.

So looking forward to finding out in November what has been found for POTD. It would be great if it was the whole serial, but even if it's only one episode, that would be good too.

The episode that I would love to have of this serial more than any other in this, is episode 1, so I can finally see the Doctor regenerate and try to come to terms with his 'change'.

Ha! Ha! I like what you have said.

Getting back to the issue in hand, I hope that isn't the case. I hope something more than a few short clips have been found.

I hope it's a full episode, or even the whole story. We can only hope...

It's only a rumour at the moment. We won't know for sure, for a few months, nearer the time the 50th Anniversary episode is aired.

I dunno if this is just coincidence, but I haven't seen the words Hope Springs mentioned anywhere on DS ever before today. I haven't seen them mentioned elsewhere online for months, either.

I think it's just coincidence, but about 7 hours ago, I bought Hope Springs the BBC TV series on DVD with DW's Alex Kingston. It also has Annette Crosbie from DW's The Eleventh Hour, too.

It was in HMV for 5.99 reduced from 12.99. It was in their discontinued/overstock section that had a load of DVDs reduced in price.

I've had this sort of experience before, where I've bought something hours before, in my local town, then seen it mentioned in discussion online, not on a shopping site. Or my parents happen to mention in conversation, the item/items that I bought, even though I haven't said to them about it.

Weird or what?

Well, gosh, that's me convinced!

Do we really need yet another fake missing episodes recovered news thread?

Depends if they used Chloroform. That would be newsworthy. Maybe Roger Moore can track down the perpetrators. Isn't that what usually happens when a pretty lady like Anneke is "silenced" by a gang of dubious men?.

#toomanythesaintreruns

There's a nasty rumour that Power was never actually made. Fans faked it by clever manipulation of photos to cover up the original cringeworthy debut for the 2nd Doctor - long since wiped from the archive.

In the real story 3 of season 4 Pat was date raped by celebrity villain of the week Irene Handl masquerading as Anneke Wills complete with fake eyelashes and mini skirt.

This subterfuge also had the benefit of creating the lie that the Daleks were ever really really good.

This rumour is about 8 months old and has pretty much died.

The only reason I even considered it at the time was that it was long time posters with reputations who posted it and not newbies.
