However, in a case tried in Germany regarding the same patent, the court found that Samsung engaged in unfair competition by copying the iPad design. A U.S. jury also found Samsung guilty of infringing on Apple's design and utility patents, awarding over one billion U.S. dollars in damages to Apple Inc. So while the U.K. court did not find Samsung guilty of infringement, other courts have recognized that in the course of creating its Galaxy tablet, Samsung willfully copied Apple's far more popular iPad.

i would hold them in contempt for that.

At no point did the court ask Apple to issue an apology to Samsung, they were required to acknowledge the design differences which they did.

How can Apple claim that samsung stole the look of their tablet from the ipad when Samsung made a photo frame that looks rather close to both back in 2006

Pretty much what I was going to say.

One of my pet hates has always been arrogance, and all the recent PR statements from Apple have been riddled with it. I don't particurally care who was at fault in the Samsung-Apple cases I just wish they would both give it a rest and go back to actually designing products or something.

Too many people have more money than sense.

In a not entirely unrelated topic ... Apple are going to have to look elsewhere for a supplier of LCD's for their "iDevices",
now Samsung are cancelling the contract to supply the parts to their litigation obsessed rival maker of posh toys!

The funny thing is is that the Galaxy series looks nothing like the iPhone and yet is probably Samsung's best market-sharing stealer series so far.

Well its only a matter of time to when the US ruling is overturned now that the original Apple patents have been annulled.

BBC News - Apple ordered to re-write 'inaccurate' Samsung statement.

Apple has 48 hours to re-write a statement on its website relating to its
design rights dispute with Samsung, UK judges have ruled.

Apple was forced on 18 October to publish a message making it clear
that Samsung had not infringed the iPad's registered design.

However Samsung complained the statement Apple
had posted did not comply with the court order.

Judges agreed and have told Apple it must be removed within 24 hours.

Let's see what Apple's next move is. More contempt of court perhaps?
