Always a little unfair when they do this even though she is ill.. Doesnt do them any favours in the voting either.

In situations like this they should open their phone line along with the rest and if the public want to save her based on her past performances they can. If not, bye bye.
Nobody should be given a free ride. |

In that case they should have no one going this week and double elimination next week . Makes it fairer all round BUT I suppose it could cause problems with timings

Jade lost her voice and Kye was ill last week and they still performed
Reminds one of when Diana was 'too ill' a couple of years ago and got a bye and people still saw her on the VT screaming at the top of her voice at fireworks |

So a contestant gets through to the next round automatically if they are "too ill"? OK.

Jade was ill last week & Rylan is too this week, but they're still performing. It just doesn't seem fair but I guess we don't know the full story yet. |

Get Kate Nash to stand in and perform one of Lucy's own songs. Job done.

So what would happen if a contestant got really sick a day before the final? Would they just be crowned winner?
As someone said before, they should keep her lines open and if she gets enough votes she stays, if not she goes - it wouldn't be 'fair' on her if that happened but life isn't fair, and it's going to be less fair on whoever goes tomorrow night because Lucy could have put in a woeful performance and had gone if she hadn't been given the free pass. So glad we've got the US version because this gets worse each week. |

This is a show that lets you vote for a singer before theyve even sang ... I think they left all value of fairness behind yonks ago

I don't agree either. Jade was ill last week and couldn't even talk for most of the week, and she came on and still sang better than most contestants! Granted you could tell she wasn't at her best but still.

Didn't Laura White go home the week that Diana got the bye? Maybe we'll see a favourite go the year too. *Crosses fingers for James' exit*

She's barely even a SINGER!!!!
I think this will harm her chances in the long run. It all seemed to go downhill for Diana after she skipped a week. |

He then went on to say that if she did, she risked longterm damage to her voice. I don't think a well respected medical expert would risk his reputation for two minutes on the X Factor. |

As unfair as this is, I'm pleased I don't have to be subjected to her rubbish talking/singing act tonight.

Seriously why? I find it absolutely ludicrous over the fact that the producers are morally entitled to give a contestant a free transition to the following week, regardless of their level of talent and competency.
Personally I think the Diana Vickers debacle should never have been a precedent in this case. In all fairness, Lucy's presence within the show isn't justifiable, hence that her level of talking is predominant over her tuneless singing. |

Janet nearly threw up on stage last year because she was ill, Marcus sang in the semi-final with laryngitis. The seem to pick and choose who gets a free pass and who doesn't

Producers must be worried she could go home this week
