How seriously should we take her technical commentary? She told Kye, in week two, that his vocals were "excellent" and "right on point" when they were manifestly neither. The following week, you will recall, Gary was seen counting the number of flat notes in that performance: thirty-two by his reckoning. Since Gary originally praised Kye's "great vocal performance" we know that his verdict was dishonest, but what about Nicole's - was it dishonest or incompetent?
Contrary to what you might think I don't dislike her but I don't think she offers anything radically different - Kelly would say "you put it down", Nicole says "you swagged it out" - as with every other judge she relies too much on the hoary X Factor lexicon.”
I wasn't referring to Nicole saying she liked Jade's tone of her voice. In week 1 one she said the range was wrong and that she should have gone a tone up.
Nicole is definitely not incompetent when it comes to music. Both Simon Cowell and Ben Folds (American musician and most technical judge on an acapella show where Nicole was also a judge on) have said that Nicole has a great musical ear and hears things that others don't. Nicole is someone who has studied her craft, she's not your average popstar.
Last week, Gary said Kye's performance was "A boom, a crash and a bang" by your theory I guess that makes him incompetent too.
