please can we get back to what the programme was originally conceived to do train non dancers into ballroom dancers by phenomenal dance trainersthan rather how to be a rock god or a wolf............. The show needs to get a grip and understand that it is watched mainly for dancing, not Brucie, Tess, the judges and definately not the themes !!!!!!!!

Couldn't agree more. I think the BBC jumped the shark with this one.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree.

The themes get in the way of the dancing

The themes mean too much in the way of costumes that distract from the dancing

The themes, especially Halloween, means that the characters played can get in the way of the dancing.

The themes mean too many props that get in the way of the dancing

The themes, especially Halloween, means silly makeup that distracts from the dancing.

Yes it's a Variety Show, that's why all ten dances are included.

I agree. I really don't care for the theme nights, especially the Halloween one. What is the point? There is no specific dances associated with Halloween and the props, costumes and 'acting up' for the VTs just distract the contestants from the dancing IMO - no wonder the majority of the dances were pretty bland last night in comparison to other weeks.

I don't mind a Hollywood/Broadway week though as you could actually compare the dances to the real thing if you are going to use dances from musicals (e.g. Cheek to Cheek, Singing in the Rain), but I think this would be better off done later in the competition when the dancers have got more practice & experience and maybe the dances should be freestyle rather than pin pointing them to a specific dance (e.g. when Ferne & Artem danced a Charleston to the Mary Poppins song)

I would also like to see a return to when each week the couples danced to either a specific ballroom or latin like one week it being Waltz vs Cha Cha Cha. Now they seem to be mixing them up a bit more and it is harder in a way to compare the dances. I didn't like the fact that Colin & Kristina did the AT so early in the competition. I don't think that should be touched till near the quarter finals.

I don't overally mind themes if done well but we certainly didn't need two back to back.

I don't mind themes but I hate the halloween ones - it's the same jokes/costumes every year.

I hate all theme weeks, I feel as though the celeb needs to potray a character which is hugely distant from the dance i.e Fern being a killer queen to an american smooth, it was a huge factor in why yesterday was quite a rubbish show imo

I agree but they have been mixing them up for years now. They should at least aim for pairs of couples to do a dance so we can form some idea of comparison.

I don't mind the themes as long as they remain a backdrop to a dance and the dance in itself is not lost in the theme.
I want the dance to be forefront of what we see and the costume and setting to work around the dance and the theme not dictate or limit the style, feel and the technnique of how the dance is.

I agree, the dance is so difficult that you only really want a celeb to perform it once they managed to tackle a fair few weeks of other choreogoraphy (that is argubly easier to master) beforehand. I know some think the AT is just a dance like all the others with individual challenges (which is true) but I, for some reason, think it should be reserved later for those that have survived to later stage in the show.

I detest so called theme nights and to put two of them on in consecutive weeks is unforgiveable. I've never watched Halloween night since they introduced it.

This present production bunch seem to have no love for dancing as they throw in anything to distract from the dancing.
