The only true, original performer this year. None of the others come close. Technical trained versus true originality, James outshone the rest yet again,

It wasn't original actually, just like last week he covered another artists version of the song and didn't give them credit, leading the audience to believe he came up with a unique arrangement.

I agree, I hope he wins it. Even if he doesn't, he'll deffo get a record deal and make more record sales than the 'winner'.

Just a copycat
Zero originality - are some people on here to stupid to realise that?

Don't get him at all.

Can't understand the fuss about him.

Yes he is different but that doesn't necessarily mean good

If the audience can't recognise the original version more credit to James. He takes nothing away just enhances what's there to start with.

All his 'unique' takes on songs have actually been ripped from other artists. He's as original as calling your pet dalmatian 'Spot'.

You think he "enhanced" MM's version? Oh God. It's misleading and sneaky not to give dues to the artist he's ripping off and passing as his own work.

If a contrived Lidl version of a contrived Marilyn Manson version of a great original song is your cup of tea, then I'm happy for you.

But, it was horrendous.

James was my favourite this week by a country mile. Superb performance and a brilliant cover of a classic song.

I think people are recognising he has something different to offer,

No, a lacklustre version of someone else's cover of a classic song.

Arthur is totally contrived.

So does self-harm.

But we shouldn't encourage it.

Far too contrived and overwrought for me, he's just trying way too hard. To the point of self-induced panic attacks.

He sings like he's got a mouth full of spanners which are causing him pain, and us. Can't pronounce anything and all the songs are lost beneath all this contrived nonsense. It's not real.

"I'm doing my dark, intense thing"

Yes James, we know. Stop it.

Marilyn Manson's famous cover from the 90's.

He can get away with such a contrived interpretation of it, that's his whole act. James just seems like an idiot doing it.

It was an identical, just badly done, copy of this:

http://vimeo.com/37649226

Marilyn Manson is an act, James' problem is he thinks it's real.

Tonights was a rip actually. He did Marilyn Manson's version of the song. His Mary J cover was more or less along the same lines as the original version so that's all there is to be said about it. What was so special about "Young"? He just strummed the guitar and roared the song down the mic.
