I don't like Tulisa but Gary let himself down with that comment and was only apologising because he knew it.

Personal comments are unacceptable and tantamount to bullying behaviour.

And in that case I think someone calling Gary out would have been justified on exactly the same basis. I am not a Gary Barlow apologist, not a Tulisa fan. Am I to be blamed for someone on the panel not doing to Gary what he had the sense to do to Tulisa?

I am going to call 'strawman argument' on that one. I predicted no-one's death. I simply made a comparison between two extremes of showbusiness.

And where the Amy Whinehouse interjection somes from I don't know. Where on Earth did I equate longevity with talent?

Come off it if you weren't predicting someone's death then what was the point in saying dead by 30,if it wasn't aimed at anyone then "where on earth did that come from",when did the discussion become a life expectancy topic.dont just go throwing random points in to pan out your points

I was drawing a spectrum of showbiz behaviour between the boring and the quick burn out and asking where, on the spectrum, someone might rather be. It seemed that the logical position might be to be near the boring end where you can enjoy the fruits of your success for a long time after your career than to have a successful career cut short by some kind of self induced issue.

This was in direct rebuttal to my interpretation of someone replying to me that Gary was in some way less of a celebrity or less credible as a judge simply because he was boring and is portrayed with a happy family life and loving wife.

It certainly wasn't a random point and it wasn't referring to anyone specifically.

Barlow didn't " call out tulisa"he resorted to juvenile name calling that has been my point all along,if he would have had a constructive reply to her justifiable criticism then I,m sure he would of used it,he should have had cos lets face it he's had plenty of practice dealing with pelters after last year & frankie.i,m also amazed that you regard name calling as " having the sense to do".obviously you'd rather they forgot about the acts & just had a straight out slanging match.do ya like watching grown men humiliating young girls or something?

Gary didn't have a comeback for Tulisa's question about why he hadn't listened to the other 3 judges comments in previous week and why he was still giving Christopher dated performances, so instead of admitting he may have made a mistake (Gary never seems to admit to making mistakes) he resorted to playground behaviour and in my opinion really showed himself up. Tuisa hadn't personally attacked him, but had suggested that professionally he wasn't doing his best for his act, he was the one who make it very personal and I don't think his comment got the reaction he was hoping for. You could see by his giggle that he thought the audience would find it funny, instead they mirrored the shock shown by Tulisa. It was a very low comment and it is clear from xtra factor that Gary is now regretting it.

I don't think Tulisa is being petty not accepting his apology, she is probably waiting to see whether he offers her a sincere apology away from any cameras to prove he is not just apologising for his public image.

Agreed - she didn't cover herself in glory last year with that.

Life's a bitch sometimes - huh.

Gary can say sorry as much as he likes but that comment will follow her around for a long time.
