I would like to see SCD win the ratings battle when both are on top form. SCD currently seems lesser of two evils to many, I feel.

Colin, Fern, Lisa, Nicky and Victoria who can all dance a bit and then Dani, Kimberley, Denise and Louis who can be very good. I don't think thats any different from other years. Even the better dancers can have an off week I suppose.

I am now intrigued, what's the 1% of shows you hate but are forced to watch?

Oh god, no. They might replace it with The Voice mark 2!

I agree 100%. What's more this years "chaff" were/are a lot better than some previous years. Michael was considered a no-hoper, but while he's not going to win, last night he made probably the biggest improvement I've seen on SCD.
A likely final between Denise, Louis and Kimberley will be as good as most we've seen in the past..it's still early days, they will all improve.
Yes, the theme weeks and VT's are annoying, they always have been for purists. But it's a family show going out very early on a Saturday evening. A lot of young children probably watch it with their parents..I'm prepared to put up with a bit of silliness at that time of the evening.

Absolutely not.

1. Not with the ratings it's getting.

2. No, it's still the brightest and most entertaining "reality" show on TV, and the least unpleasant to the participants.

3. Why suggest axing it? It's obvious from the viewing figures that a lot of people still watch it every week, which suggests that the majority of them enjoy it (it's hard to imagine that most of the regulars sit through it with gritted teeth, hating it ...). Anyone who no longer likes it can just ... not watch ...

I like the edge that bringing back the dance off has brought back to the show. It doesn't feel as though it's a show in decline at the moment.

I honestly didn't enjoy last nights show but that is just a one off!
SCD is the absolute best entertainment show on televsion, why on earth would the BBC want to axe it?

The reason of course, is entirely due to the BBC who are obsessed with beating ITV each week in the ratings.”

Have you actually looked at the ratings? Its beating X factor hands down good, Saturday night entertainment that's distinctive. Your posts are always negative on BBC but you seem to watch it a lot.

Not many shows can have a spin off, it takes two, on five days a week and getting above average ratings for its slot as well.

Clearly the wrong decision on Doctor Who, now very popular, back on rime time Saturday nights, a key show of Christmas day, Michael Grade made a poor decision in the past, all it needed was a newer writer and a bit more money.
SCD is beating X factor, and nearly any other normal show around bar Sport, and the Games and Royal events.

Fully agree, its great 'family' entertainment not like the pantomime of X factor that is so so rigged.

SCD is so much fun, its not cruel like I am a celebrity....it gives stars a new skill,, thats why people like Victoria Pendleton want to be on it.

Let 11 million enjoy it and the 'few' who moan switch off BBC1 and watch Dads Army. (Dont tell them your name Pike)

WRT D W yes the fresh approach has been key. It was not there at the time though, for whatever reason. But indeed when it was it came back strong.

FWIW I wasn't saying SCD needs a break as such but that those who think it should end (and I am not one) might see a temp hiatus as an alternative.

The OP even said rest it, not axe it.

DWTS is on twice a year, maybe too much for SCD, but a delay to the following spring one year instead of an Autumn start would give an almost 18 month gap, which might whet appetites without being too long and give time to make positive changes.

No doubt tonight and on ITT next week the BBC minions will pull out all stops to rewrite history making out what a great night Halloween was.

I won't bother watching tonight's Strictly Horrible Dancing II.

Trouble is, some of us USED to like it very much, and are addicts, but don't like some of the the way it's going, the ghastly VTs, the weird dances to weird music choices, the dumbing down, the theme nights, the judges time allowance for comments being cut back, etc etc.I've never seen a questionnaire on the BBC website asking us what we want, or asking for our comments on the show. They just assume we like the way it's going.
So no, it shouldn't be axed, but it's going off on the wrong track at the moment (which is why there are so many criticism threads this week) and it needs to be got back on the rails again.
