Great post. It really is pathetic. Do these numpties think Lucy could possibly have anything at all to gain by NOT singing in a singing competition?

Well said. She isn't my fave, but the op hasnt thought this one out.

Possibly because she is too ill to be filmed? Footage of someone vomiting isn't exactly entertaining.

I think it's very likely Spraggan is ill, but possibly not too dramatically ill.

I think it's possible they've given her a free pass as they know she's popular when on form, but unlike jade and kye, her voice is nowhere near good enough to withstand being ill. She's something different, and does bring a kind of credibility to the show for that, whether you agree or not personally about her talents. For the moment, they need her.

Take also for example that when her gran died, she was told she was through almost straight away whilst when jade was ill they left her til last. All in all, I think if Lucy is popular enough to be given a free pass then that is fair enough. I'm personally a bit sad because jade impressed me in week two, so I think she'll go before we see the best of her.

Did they actually announce that she was ill? I recorded the prog and whizzed through the beginning until the first act came on stage.

Poor Lucy, from someone who has had flu I remember how ill I felt, even my hair hurt and in the end I had to be taken to hospital I was so bad. I hope Lucy recovers from this quickly, It took me nearly two weeks to feel back to normal again. Wishing her a very very speedy recovery

I think the problem is that X factor has created this unrealistic 'before we are famous' world for them by sending them to these premieres. I dont suspect for one moment that eg. Kelly Rowland was hawked around premieres for films before she was famous - I suspect she was worked hard to achieve the level of fame she actually obtained. That is the kind of thing for them to go to if, or after, they do become well known. So how X Factor is mirroring reality, I dont know and I dont really think it gives them an idea of the hard work ethic required. Suppose at the end of the day it dosent make good TV to see them working hard.

I think had anyone else had the flu it wouldn't be an issue, but we've all seen and heard about Lucy's behavior and really it's no surprise to me that someone who seems to spend so much time burning the candle at both ends has come down with the flu. Going out and getting wrecked till all hours most nights is a pretty good way of buggering up your immune system and making you vulnerable to colds, flu etc.

I don't even burn the candle at one end, but I did get flu, so severe I had to go into hospital to recover, I eat well, am, i like to think very healthy and don't drink to excess etc. I would therefore like to disagree with you about burning the candle at both ends hence her getting ill. I hope she recovers quickly, flu can be very nasty.

If she genuinely has flu it's not a quick recovery. Last time I had it I was running a temp of 104 for days and could barely move or breathe let alone sing. It took me 2 weeks, 2 courses of antibiotics and an inhaler before I felt anything like 'normal' I was still coughing and felt tired and washed out for another week. I now pay for an annual flu jab.

If she's sick I hoipe she's well enough to perform next week and not in a 'show must go on' sympathy way. I wish they'd scrapped the eviction this week and had a double next week.

Oh God in agreement with this so much. It's like people have this idea that by not singing this is somehow going to give her an advantage. In reality I can't see how this could be anything but a huge disadvantage to her in the long term. I can unfortunately see a lot of people not wanting to vote for her in future weeks purely because they think this is unfair

Of course she was. She'd heard that Pussy Galore would be there.

She had a choice (free will) to choose whether or not to go to the premiere and Rylan's birthday. She chose. Now she's ill. If that whole thing means that much to her, why not stay in, get an early night, or practice her performance. At the end of the day it is a number of weeks in her life - she can party when it is all over.

They were on Tuesday and Wednesday and she was one of many contestants who went to them (Plus considering they use premiere footage for the VT I doubt she had a choice on that one)

And what person decides "I'm not going to go to a friend's birthday on the off chance I happen to get a viral infection from it."? She was hardly going to know she was going to get sick from it. Also Tulisa said last week that despite her night out with Rylan last week, she was still ready to go at 8am the next morning, so I don't think it's fair or accurate to imply she's prioritising partying over being on the show.

That's funny. Remember when Matt was ill they showed him in his bed etc. so yes they could film someone sick.

Hang on Kye and Jade performed last week when they were poorly - so why not the same for Lucy

Actually, I think just to be on the safe side, I'd better not go to work tomorrow, or indeed ever again. In fact I'm going to become a hermit. I'll show them pesky germs they can't get me.

If she really has got flu, she won't be performing next week either.
I don't know why they just don't play one of her performances from previous weeks, they all sound the same. I wouldn't have noticed.

So she's a cert for the tour?

She hasn't got flu, she's probably got a cold. Flu makes you feel like death warmed up.

Yes you don't need to tell me how nasty the flu is. I've had it myself and was bed ridden for a week, however not looking after yourself properly will make you more vulnerable to bugs and viruses.

I agree, I think the tour has a lot to do with it

if she has severe flu and came down with it on Thursday/Friday there is not much chance of her being better for next week and she should be kept well away from the others

but I suspect she will have a swift recovery so she can sing yet another set of her dire lyrics

Do you honestly think Lucy would have been in the bottom two this week?
