I know, save energy and reduce carbon footprint etc, but I just like the look of the box better with the clock displayed ! Maybe I'll feel guilty soon and turn it off again !

Just reformatted mine and it now boots in approx 35 seconds to picture and sound. Before the format it was 55-60 seconds.
So looks like there is something the o/s doesn't like but isn't clever enough to fix.

Quite why it even needs the 35 seconds I've no idea, I guess the downside of using an off the shelf o/s.

Like most Humax boxes the HDD is formatted EXT3, unlike the others the video partition is itself encrypted so you cannot read the files even on a Linux booted PC. You can't even copy the existing recordings to a new HDD.

You can record the programmes using the TV scart to a DVD recorder, preferably one capable of RGB recording. HD in SD of course.

Absolutely right, 1TB is big enough for my needs. I'm pretty obsessive about watching things up then deleting recordings. I rarely use more than 15% to 20%. I'm told size isn't everything.

Can I suggest that this thread title is no longer and has not been for some time related to its title?
