iPad mini is same as iPhone 5. LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 13 & 25
As far as I know iPad 4 is the same.
Band 3 is 1800Mhz (EE)
The eventual (after the auctions) extra UK bands are band 7 (2600Mhz) and band 20 (800Mhz)
Dare say the iPhone 6/iPad 5/6 will support these.

It's a pain isn't it, I wonder when we will see SDR in phones so this wont be an issue anymore.

Exactly, iPad 3rd generation uses 700MHz and 2100MHz frequencies, 4G on EE uses 1800MHz frequency so you better check which devices support it before you buy your next tablet.
