My favorite sauce to have on a steak is Stilton cheese sauce, what is your favorite type of sauce to have on a steak?

I usually get a red wine sauce, but I get my sauce separate, I think a good steak should stand alone.

Nothing.
Peppercorn, diane etc, I don't like any of them. To me there's nothing like a steak on its own, in its own juice. Lovely. |

Peppercorn, if made right. Not the rubbish that is served in 90% of places.

Creamy Pepper sauce that you get a in a sachet from any supermarket, DELICIOUS.
You get a mild version too if you look. |

I'm with the steak on it's own brigade with just the pan juices. Although Bearnaise is a nice accompaniment now and then.

Either Port and Silton or Au Poivre. I only have a little bit of it on my steak though, prefer it for my chips

No sauce poured over the steak.
But ketchup to dunk it and the chips in ![]() I like to mop the juices up with garlic bread too. I always eat way too much if I have steak. |

Not even a few spices?
You may find it very surprising but there are loads of people here in this thread that appreciate the taste of the actual steak. |

I like to add a splash of water to the pan and crumble an oxo cube into it and then add the steak juices off the plate. It isn't a sauce per se but it is nice.

I used to eat a lot of steak. Not so much now but a year or two back I was once a week and before that it was twice a week.
As not to get bored I had something different every time be it red wine, peppercorn/diane/mushroom, bernaise, blue cheese, five spiced, indian spiced etc. and also plain. The best i've had recently for a sauce was bernaise. The best steak i've had recently was seasoned with five spice and cayenne pepper. |
