I hate this phrase, there's a long established word for two or more songs mixed together - medley!

That word is only used when the performance is well done and the two or more tunes fit together seamlessly. What we witnessed on Saturday night was so far away from a medley that mashup was the polite way of describing it.

A mash-up and a medley are two different things.

That said, what X Factor calls a "mash-up" is in fact a medley 99% of the time. Only one act performed a mashup last night and that was Jade.

Just to add to this only one act performed an actual mashup and that was Jade who sang the Richard X ft Sugababes-Freak like me track

The lyrics were from - Adina Howard-Freak like me
and the music a remix of Gary Newman-Are friends electric?

Whenever anyone performs a medley it really cheapens the act and makes me think of Jedward or Wagner!
Its just not necessary to showcase their talents!
