Do they tell the judges what to say? Do they pick the song choices? Do they tell the judges who to save in the bottom 2? Do they tell the judges who to put through in each round before the live shows? What do you guys think?

Yes obviously. U really don't think do you that the judges make there own comments up in live tv do you, I believe thy have bullet points on what to say. It's all scripted.

Yes, the producers script all their comments, even the "controversial" ones and the "fights".
Yes, they tell the producers who to vote off and put through to the live shows. The producers give the judges a list of songs they can chose for their act per week- it usually has only 2-5 on it. |

I doubt they tell them *everything* to say. Probably quite a bit of it though.
They definitely play a part in song choices, I think that much has been said at one point. I think they'll tell the judges who to save if it threatens a favourite or they want controversy created. If it was 2 acts they don't care about though I doubt they'd bother giving input. Before the live shows I think they definitely tell the judges who to put through, or at least certain acts that definitely have to go through. |

why not cut out the judges as they are surplus to requirements and put the producers upfront instead.. It would save Syco a fortune

Don't you know that DS is rife for their conspiracy theories which have been spouted so much that they begin to believe themselves and use them as fact.Every once in awhile a thread pops up with the exact same thoughts with liberal sprinklings if "scripted" and "manipulation" so it all sounds sinister. My post originally was intended sarcasm, and mocking how people actually take the X factor seriously and not just as a Saturday night entertainment show. |

Do they pick the song choices? Mostly, the judges are given a very short list to pick from except for the acts they want to do well, and in this case they'll make sure that they have a suitable list. Do they tell the judges who to save in the bottom 2? Yes if they care, may be not if both acts are expendable. Do they tell the judges who to put through in each round before the live shows? Yes, the judges are just there for show. |

They have a lot of influence but a lot on people on this forum in particular go way too out about it. I don't believe the judges comments are scripted but a lot of the decisions are. I don't get too hung up about it and enjoy the show for entertainment value.

It is cast and scripted like any other TV show. No one honestly believes anything else do they?
