quick question raydons custom firware
hi just a really quick question about raydons custom forward
will it overwrite my settings of my non freesat channels on humax hdr I have set them up perfectly but once I install the firmware do I have to start all over again I'm on firmware version u7.53 I brought this box second hand how do I know if it already has raydons firmware already on it? It will save me time I know I should load the firmware first then properably set up how I wanted it but oh well so will it over write or do I already have the firmware on here that I dont know about? |

It won't affect your non-freesat channel line up. You will be able to add non-freesat channels to freesat mode and set manual recording timers as well.
Latest firmware is 1.0.21 (7.53 is the loader). Installing it wil update your firmware to the latest at the same time. |

If the custom firmware is installed you will see a message on the Foxsats front panel on boot. You need custom firmware version 4.0.9 (the latest).Follow this instructions on the first post in the main custom firmware thread over on another forum (AVF) . Before you start, lookup your Foxsat's ip address (You can find this in the Foxsat's settings > Diag > Network).. |

wow I'm I glad or what that it won't affect the non freesat lineup thanks for confirmation guys it was nice of them to think about this when they made the custom firmware
ok that's confused me slightly graham said the custom firmware automatically updates the foxsat hdr to the latest firmware 1.0.21 but your saying update firmware 4.0.9 first with out the custom firmware then afterwards install the custom firmware? which is right here guys also graham what do you mean just the loader as it got here her 7.53 as version so I don't understand when you saying its just the boot loader? is it really necessary to be connected to the net just to start because I was going to connected the box to Ethernet after I flashed with custom firmware and deal with the setup after wards from my pc so do I need the address of the foxsat just yet? |

The loader is seperate and is what starts the boot process and supports flashing new firmware (or loaders). You can flash the firmware without a net connection but will need one to install the optional applications. |

I got you thankful very much by the way the firmware I'm on is it very old than to the 1.0.21? and what does firmware update do anyway not the custom firmware I know what that does but what does the humax firmware update to as it don't change channel line up freesat and non freesat so what does it do clearly it doesn't mess with our settings so what's it actually doing and why is it needed? What special thing does the humax firmware do to our box and why is it needed? |

The number you mention 7.53 is the loader version, the application version is 1.00.21 which you can see in Setup . Diag > System (I think). If you leave your Foxsat in standby it would have updated. 1.00.21 was released to allow recording of the olympic channels (to cure an unforseen problem). The Humax application ("settop") runs the user interface, controls the epg, handles recordings.etc - The custom firmware adds additional functions only. It does not replace the Humax application.

Streaming of recorded SD programmes (and HD recorded without encryption) across your network Direct access to the HDD to download and upload files. User customised epgs on your PC Adding non-freesat channels to freesat mode so you can watch them without changing mode (and set recording timers) Two remote controls on your PC, one with favourites icons and programmeable macro buttons. Remote setting of recordings anywhere there's a internet connection Sending you an e-mail with lots of info about your box - recorded programmes, recording schedule etc. and so on

On myhumax blog I only see custom version 4.0.8 and not 4.0.9 look only 4.0.8 version http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/foxsa...fw-every-night with regards to timer recordings am I right some channels in non freesat will only have now next limitation in the epg while some in non freesat have the full epg so a bit hitband miss but for what it is its a excellent custom firmware that does a lot |

Yes good to go. You don't get any epg data for non freesat channels, the epg has a line for them but no data. Non-Freesat channels that are available on Freesat but not seen because of the postcode used will have epg data.
I also see luxe hd is now a scrambled channel on freesat also can seem to find version 4.0.9 like the op mention in this post I can only find 4.0.8 which firmware do I use with my 1.00.21 I think I found it is it this custom firmware I have to use http://www.avforums.com/forums/frees...-part-3-a.html |
