Is there any X Factor acts this year that could become international superstars?
With X Factor acts such as Cher Lloyd, One Direction, Leona Lewis and now Little Mix being stars overseas. Is there any acts in this years crop that could become known well overseas and have a long career ahead of them?
In my opinion I feel that Union J will but not as big as One Direction and if I'm honest thats it. Maybe James if he is given the right material. I can see Ella having big success here and maybe smaller success abroad but not really anyone else. I feel that Melanie may also have a career ahead if she is given the right material and marketed well, I could also see her joining a band? What do you all think about this years crops future? |

UK superstars probably. A few albums maybe.
Jahmene might get one or two albums but won't do that much. James Arthur is in the wrong show and can probably leave now and pick up an album but will disappear. Ella will probably end up a la West End. |

Hard to say; Leona seems to be a the descent and obviously Cher Lloyd and One Directions careers have a sell-by date.

According to Louis Walsh, quite a number of them..
But then, we've heard all of that before. Rich. x |

I think the best we can hope for from Ella and Jahmene are albums full of cover songs, coming out around Easter.
Both are talented, with the latter more so than the former, but neither really have the character to pull off a successful album campaign in the current pop market. Ella continually lacks emotional resonance, which really showed last night. Amy Lee applies such strong emotion to her singing, combining it effortlessly with her already fantastic voice. I think the reason we're constantly reminded Ella's 'Only 16' is because she seriously lacks in many areas of performance. |

People keep saying that Jahmene and Ella will end up in the West End, but to do musicals being able to act, dance or at least have a great stage presence and charisma is important. Although these two can sing neither have any of these qualities.
A number of people have done this, of course, Ray Quinn, for example and people coming from a different angle such as Mel C.. but it's not a guarantee.. People were continually pigeon-holing Joe McElderry in the same way, saying his voice would be "great for the West End," and, in terms of "singing str8," i.e. with very little embellishment, so far as coping with the technical demands of musical songs, I'm sure he'd've been able to cope very well, but I can't see Jahmene, with his current style of singing doing very well. It would depend on the musical, of course, but it's not the sort of thing you can do to Bernstein, Sondheim, or any of the main standard musicals and he'd be pulled up by any M.D. should he attempt to do so.. Not that, that, going by past X-Factor artists means anything, or whether she'd have much say in the line up of song, for a first album. Rich. x |

Good point, there seems to be this assumption that because people can sing well that they'll make a seamless transition to being able to do well in musicals.

One Direction are stars at the moment - but far from superstars and their last record slumped after debuting in the US. Leona Lewis only had one really big hit record and album abroad. Cher Lloyd - one top 20 hit in the US and an album that slumped after spending one week in the bottom end of the US Top 10. Little Mix - have done nothing outside of the UK. Hardly all global superstars. The only real global superstar that has arisen out of this format has been Kelly Clarkson. And having seen the motley crew served up this year - not a chance!! |

It'll all depend on management and what they record after the show is finished.

Did she not write the song she sang in her audition?

We talk about some of these people as if they've had major long-term careers..let's see if we're still talking about them 10 years down the line.. That, for me, would be the acid test.. Some may do well in Europe, again, for a brief period, but international "superstars?" Leona, long term, I'd say will do well and survive in some way, or another, but as for the rest of them who've had some limited success in the U.S. well, I predict they'll fall as quickly as they've risen..unless they really have something to say.. Mind you, who knows how many of the guys in One Direction will go on to have massive solo careers? ![]() Rich. x |

So it is better that she doesn't win and gets signed by someone who will let her write some of her own stuff.

This is all true but at at the moment 1D and Cher are pretty big stateside as well as in Australia and many other countries. Little Mix are cracking Australia and I have no doubt that they will also be big in the states. Leona has been the biggest star to come out of X Factor and is very well known stateside. Maybe I worded it wrong but it seemed the best way to put it. Kelly Clarkson is indeed the biggest start to ever come out of a talent show format but her hype hasn't been as big as 1D and I think this will carry on for many more years for them.

Cher and 1D international superstars, I don't think so. The same for Little Mix. They are all average at best. |

Re: Ella, for one so young, her talent singing and writing music is enormous! I'd like to hope that she would have a good career at the end of all this? Good management and she'll be fine. Would say James will do quite well in this country.
Can I see any international stars? No but I didn't expect 1D or Cher to have as much stateside success as they have! |
