(a) what can we improve, i would like to see (or should that be not see) the video clips, not interested in them at all.
(b) advert breaks, one after every act, parrrrrlease no thank you. (c) is judging really necessary, why cant the acts just sing a song picked at random and all 4 judges say what they like rather than being partisan to one category? |

Lol, it's not going to be the last X Factor. Ratings are down but they are still big.
I think they need to reform the auditions/bootcamp stages the most. The whole pre live show portion of the show this year was boring. We're too used to the same format and it's become stale. Right down to how they edit the auditions and the judges interactions with the contestants. It stopped the show from building any momentum or hype going into the live stages. Thats why people are complaining so much. The actual singing standard of the contestants this year is very high and they are a talented bunch. The problem are the other aspects of the show that have failed to build up enough hype around them. Even the "joke" act Rylan is just so blah. It would have been interesting if for a change they hadn't included him this year. Everyone knew he was going to the live shows as soon as his audition aired. Everyone knows he's going to last a few more weeks until he's safely on the tour. It's no suspenseful or controversial, it's what happens every year with the joke acts. So they need to revamp the audition/bootcamp rounds asap imo. They also need to find another way of stirring up public controversy because Rylan as a joke act is just not good enough. He's even mediocre when ranked alongside the other bad singers that have been on the show. No one cares. |

Get rid of all of Gary's acts and let him mentor the three wildcards.

(c) This is how judging is actually supposed to be done and was done in the original series. As for singing a random song...thats rediculous. |

1. Give the judges one act from each category, instead of the whole category.
2. Ban songs that have been used before. 3. Get a list of all x factor cliches (you owned the stage/look like pop star/are world class), and fine judges each time they use one. Louis better take out a bank loan in preparation. 4. Only one boy band per series allowed. 5. Or don't bother and just end the series after this one, put the money into making BGT bigger and bolder. |

He's even mediocre when ranked alongside the other bad singers that have been on the show. No one cares. I also agree about the joke act, they should've given it a miss this year and Lucy could have easily filled the 'divisive act' role. It won't be the last one purely because they are still contracted to a tenth series next year, but I do think we'll see quite big changes. I only expect Louis & Nicole to remain on the panel and there also might be wider format changes. I liked an idea posted a while ago, where to limit the places in bootcamp. If they only allowed 24 in each category to go through, we could get to know the contestants better and it would create a bit of suspense during the auditions- whether talented people will make it through or not. Axe another 12 in each category at the end of the first stage of bootcamp, and axe 6 at the second stage, leaving 6 for judges houses. They need to put more performers through too. We had Kitty last year, Cher/Wagner the year before and Jedward the year before that used to put on a show, whereas there is noone like that this year so the performances can be a bit underwhelming. They need to widen their song choices too, year in year out its the same ones. |

I personally think they should have XF and BGT alternate years. It's all too much now and the audience is moving on.

It's not going to change beyond a sticking plaster approach, but if we were given free reign?
1. Ditch the live auditions.. 2. Have 5 judges and no deadlock, who wouldn't be tied to any of the artists and who would judge each performance on its merits. 3. Have separate mentors, who know what they're talking about, i.e. they're recognized vocal coaches etc. 4. Stop Dermot "dancing," I love him, but it's naff. 5. Cut the length of the show down to an hour on Saturday and 30 minutes on Sunday. 6. Get rid of the group number it's a waste of time and gives us no more information, about the qualities of any of the performers that we can't get in their live show performance. 7. Stop using the show as a vehicle to plug previous winner's new material. 8. Avoid at all cost the mis-use of the word "masterclass," particularly when applied to someone like Robbie Williams. 9. Restrict the voting time to immediately after the show, not all the way through the live shows before we've even seen the quality of the performances. 10.Choose one sing off song, each week that all the artists have to choose and judge them on their performances of that song. Rich. x |

It's not the last series and there's nothing to improve ratings. People have just had their fill of the show - so no more big numbered ratings. Ever - but enough people are still tuning in. So no cancellation.

Lose the judge mentoring. It's nonsense. Let the contestants stand and fall alone.
Lose the groups. They are all crap. Boybands and girlbands are pathetic. Lose the sob stories and home videos at the audition stages. Lose the guest acts. |

It will be back next year with a dramatic new look just watch.
here's what I would do. 1. 4 judges and they each get an act from each category. 2. Revamp the audition shows 2 episodes 1 on saturday and 1 on Sunday 1 city per show. so like london on the 2 hour Saturday show and Glasgow on the 1 hour Sunday show etcetera. 3. Live semifinal show's, on the Saturday 10 boys compete for 5 places in the final's, 3 are chosen via public vote and two judges picks 10 groups on the Sunday then the next week 10 overs on the Saturday and 10 Girls on the Sunday with a live random draw to decide which judge gets which act. 4. for the finals have it completely publicly decided, on the Sunday just after the group performance they announce the bottom 2 acts who then do a sing off, the phone lines reopen for the public to revote then after the famous people have promoted their new single's they announce who the public saved and who's gone home. |

It's contracted for one more series so I would hardly doubt they would pull the plug early but IT CAN'T CONTINUE PAST 2013! IT JUST CAN'T!
ITV have to cut their losses, let the show end after the next series next year and bring in something new for 2014 if it ever wants to beat the BBC on a Saturday night again. |

1. Allow Gary Barlow to leave as he most likely intends to in order to make way for Simon Cowell's return.
2. Ditch Tulisa and replace with Sharon Osbourne. 4. Consider ditching Louis and finding a younger judge. Even if the new judge is shit the show's ratings could be uplifted if an ageism row breaks out. 5. No more Brian Friedman, ever. 6. Put more actual singers in the live shows instead of an obvious winner, a few potential runners up and a load of cannon fodder & joke acts. |

Look for a group of singers who actually have potential.

Put throw the best singers that audition as I bet there's plenty of great singers that audition but we don't get to see because the producers have already decided who/what type of singers they want

I actually don't care if it is, it needs a break at the very least now. It has gone so far from what it started out as and the contestants are mere puppets in a script written for the judges to perform.
I don't know anyone who watches it in live time, it's impossible to with the number of ads (and I'd be interested to know if any of the companies who do advertise during the ad breaks actually do get increased sales revenue as a result of the show as most people don't watch them) and sob stories. I didn't watch it last year but have done, on Sky+, this year and can watch the whole thing from start to finish in about 20 minutes tops, and the results show in even less. But it really wouldn't bother me never to watch it again, especially when the standard of acts chosen - there was some decent talent in the auditions but less talented acts were taken through to the live shows - deteriorating yearly. |
