I mean seeing their recent performances I think there is a serious boy band in the making right there. I would buy their album. Vocally they would destroy 1D.

They're vocals are quite strong and as in the OP I would say a heck of alot more stronger than 1D was at this time in the competition for them.
However with 2 boybands still in the mix I can see them both doing harm to each other's chances - I think they have a good chance when/ if D3 go |

I wouldn't say really like them but they're one of the best out of a bad bunch.

I disliked both boy bands after the first week, and thought they would hinder each others chances by splitting the vote, but Union J have really grown on me and there performances are so much more current than District3, who I think seem like a 90s boybands and are very cheesy. They seem to have great voices, especially Jaymi, and once they start doing more harmonies I think they will be very good.
I think Union J are a lot better than One Direction, however they don't have Simon Cowell as a mentor so he might not have as big an interest in helping make them successful after the show, especially as he already has a very successful boyband signed to his label. If District3 leave I think Union J will have a great chance of getting to the final, but I don't think a group will win two years in a row and they have a lot of competition with Ella, Jahmene and James. |

Love Union J. They've been my favourites for weeks now. Don't get the hype over Ella or Jahmene.

What has liking Union J got to do with 1D? Having strong vocals doesn't necessarily make you superstars, which 1D are at the moment. There is no guarantee that this group will be signed.
BTW what happened to the 2 boybands from last year?

I've liked them since they performed call me maybe, but it wasn't til week 2 that I sat up and thought that these boys really have something special (other than being very pretty)
Glad to see quite a few other people warming to them, I know they'll never be popular to most of this forum but I hate to see them dismissed as a talentless boyband- Jaymi and Josh have great voices! Hope they can continue to prove more people wrong about them

Me. They've overtaken Jade as my favourites, and are storming ahead for me now.

I don't get the difference between them and One Direction. Especially in terms of market.
All I hear is 4 guys, 1 with a good voice, 3 with an alright voice singing. No harmony, just like they only met the day before a show |

Didn't they originally audition as a 3 piece, like GMB, sorry District 3?
Either way, I'm no fan of the tendency in recent years to force boy/girl bands together, particularly not this year when, as the judges said, the groups were "really strong," this year.. Yet, we still ended up with two carbon copy boy-bands in the final..although I would say that District 3 are streets ahead of Union J in the vocal harmony stakes, who, as someone's said are streaks ahead of where One Direction were last year, at this stage..who could barely manage unison successfully. Maybe we should have a Man/Woman Band category, or I'd love to see a mixed group involved but we'll never get that any time they let Louis Walsh loose on the groups..as he's got a fairly 2 track mind, on that one. It'll either be some novelty act, or a typical boy band and talent doesn't seem to come into the equation...they only need to be "cute," in order to qualify for the "I think you could be the next big boy band," stock phrase. Rich. x |

I have to admit I liked them more after seeing how much strength Jamie has in his voice! If they have any sense they will get him more solos

No harmony, just like they only met the day before a show Sweet Dreams proved that they are going to harmonize in the future instead of singing in unison though (and did it better than D3 on the night) which pleased me, because I always couldnt abide One Direction never trying it. |
