Was Louis right last night?
I nearly fell off me chair when Louis introduced his bands by naming them individually.... that was a brave and unscripted move I think; must've caused much consternation in the production suite!
But - I did notice for second group he glanced down and right before naming them so perhaps there was a small boy crouching down holding a card up with the names written on? |

Can you explain why it was a clever move? I automatically thought it was his usual thing to do, after that time years ago when he was slagging Simon Cowell by asking him to name the guys in the band and he wasn't able to. And since then I thought he used to do it.
I may be missing the point you are trying to make though, particularly in relation to the producers?? |

I thought that Louis was a bewildered old buffoon who has been stealing a living on Xfactor for years and he simply did not have the mental capacity to memorise 7 names of people he doesn't know and only sees when he is chaufeured to a 5 minute filming session with them each week to make a bit of VT. However, I must now revise my opinion.... maybe he's got more faculties than I thought?
The DS perception of Louis as a 'buffoon' is completely at odds with all of his non X Factor interviews. He's playing a pantomime part............. very well. |

I fear his bank balance might confirm it for you.

He is the most savvy one on there. It makes me laugh when people think he's thick. I'd love to be half as thick as him!

Memorising the names of 7 people isn't exactly difficult! Not if you try. Sure, is you're introduced to them all once it's nigh on impossible unless you're really good, but if you see them day after day, week after week, it's hardly difficult. Let's put it this way, if you got a job in a department of 7 other people and you couldn't remember all their names after the first couple of days, you'd have to be pretty dumbass! |

Louis Walsh has seen other mentors come and go, but he remains the voice of reason. No Louis, no X Factor. He is the star.

I think it was a clever move. He comes across as a little silly at times with his choices but he knows what he's doing in the long run (prime example: Jedward).

He's been working with them every week I think he will know their names by now without needing prompts. The week he asked Simon to name his act was week 1 or 2 and I think Louis has a lot more contact and interest in his act than Simon. No-one doubted last year whether Tulisa knew the names of her acts.

To be fair, he probably is the only person in the whole country who could name all of Union J and District 3. Including the members of Union J and District 3.

He made his groups walk around with their names written on paper taped to their chests. You could see it in one of the boys groups VTS a couple of weeks ago.
