I think Little Mix were more likeable and had great chemistry with their personalities and seemed more like an established group on stage. We don't really know much about any of the boys except that there are girls outside screaming for Union J every week (been their VT for 2 weeks) and District3 are trying to dance (again VT for 2 weeks). Little Mix's personalities were shown through their VTs.
Also there was more of a gap for a girl band whereas there's already One Direction, the Wanted, Lawson, JLS, I think a lot of people may be bored of boybands.

I was surprised Union J was in the bottom 2 though, was expecting District3 as I think they seem less likeable.

Groups based on a foundation of the stupid teenage girl vote will never win.

Look at how huge One Direction are now, but their hormonally-challenged fanbase couldn't get them a win, could they?
Well Little Mix haven't quite proven themselves to be 'successful' yet. They won the show, yes, but are they going to have a genuine recording career? Let's see in 12 months from now!

I dont think any other groups are going to be as lucky as Little mix to be honest. and i also think LM's breakthrough performance was the En Vogue classic. That when I actually noticed and voted for them the first time

Union J and District 3 are not known to have massive fanbases. We are told by the producers that they have massive fan bases.
Never thought this country had so many sheep.

I remember being amazed looking back at the early weeks voting results of that year and seeing that Little Mix (or Rythmix :P) were never close to the bottom two.

I think everyone can admit the latter half of that series was basically one big Little Mix hype machine - but it is impressive that they managed to get the votes to sail through the first half.

I know many people think ET was their first game changer performance, but I can't help thinking their I'm Like A Bird performance in week 2 was actually what made people start taking notice of them.

For me I didn't notice them when they sang ILAB. I was watching it on the tv but back then Rythmix/Little Mix where just another XF contestant.

E.T was when I actually had to stop what I was doing and have all my attention on the tv watching them as it was brilliant. I even youtubed it the next week to watch it again.

I still never voted though I started to vote for them the week after.

The week they did Tik Tok - they were 0.4% away from the bottom 2, they were tied with a couple of other acts. I dont think Little Mix were even that popular in the early stages, more a lack of any decent competition, after Alien their popularity seemed to shoot up but I dont think a girlgroup would have a chance on most other years.

I must admit I didn't really notice them first few weeks, I liked them but the curse of the girl band did make me think they wouldn't get far. ET performance changed that for me and because they were normal girls with good voices and got along well. Don't let go for me was one of the best performances in X factor history and sealed it for many voters.
