Dance-off vs. Purity of dance
*Jupiter*

I love how they claim the dance-off is about purity of dance, but most decisions were made are mostly along the lines "You were less shit then your contrahent". (but at least the public gets the bottom 2 about right so far)

The flaw with having a dance-off is that, the public having registered their complete indifference to the bottom two dances, it is those two dances we are forced to watch again!

Quite, it is a second helping of the worst dish.
Couples get worse under the spotlight,
judges repeat negative outpourings,
and viewers relive their disappointment.

The hope that dance-off couples take judges' comments onboard is impractical. Celebs have rehearsed all week to finalise at a shaky performance. Without time and place for prolonged rehearsal any attempt to deviate would risk a meltdown.

No longer watch the results show, who wants to watch the most meh dances again, then there is the torture that is Lens lens, a singing act that consists of either someone who has nothing to do Saturday night or listening to a legend's voice in it's death throes, thanks but no thanks.

I check the spoiler on here and then read about the results show on Monkseal's blog, far more entertaining.

That isn't quite true though is it. They say they have to mark on what they see at that moment, but each judge has his or her personal criteria.

Len is definitely quite strict on purity, in the sense he wants to see tradional dance, but Craig has admitted he couldn't care less that Louis and Flavia's Salsa was a Mambo or that there was little cha in Lisa and Robin's Cha Cha. Bruno and Darcey are probably somewhere in the middle, with Bruno leaning a little more toward Len (Darcey is a bit harder to suss as her comments and points awarded can be contradictory).

In general I'd agree, although I didn't mind being 'forced' to watch Ola in that playsuit again!

I agree that the dance off has been a waste of time so far. We've just had to sit through two poor dances performed even worse because of more nerves and pressure. Maybe things will change latter on.

I agree in terms of entertainment value the DO isn't up to much BUT as someone how as a full paid up member of the 'Austin was robbed by the DO' brigade I think it's actually done what it was supposed to this year - had it not been for the DO we might not have seen Michael's stella QS and I think Richard justified the judges faith in him last week too. The DO is getting rid of the right people in the bottom two so far and I think Colin having had some time to rest and get over the jet lag will prove it right again next week.
