Thanks for that - much appreciated.

Did you need to partition your hard disk before connecting it to the 1000S?

I am just wondering if I can put my existing 2TB Foxsat disk (which I had to partition before it would work on the Foxsat) into the 1000S - I realise I'll lose existing recordings.

The disk was unpartitioned - suggest you delete the partitions first on your disk..

Hi REPASSAC

I was thinking of getting a HDR-1000S and fitting the 3TB version of your new hard drive, ie the WD30EURS. Apart from the larger capacity, the spec seems the same as the WD20EURS. See http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=150

Are you aware of any problems that might arise from a drive this size, bearing in mind that the Foxsat had performance issues with anything larger than 1TB.

Cheers

I am not aware of any and see no reason why any reasonable limit should exist. I will warn you however that I don't think it would be possible to create the partitions manually. The recordings one looks like it may be LUKS encrypted.

That said the 3tb does need about 30% more power.
