when do you expect gary barlow to say to rylan 'i actually quite liked that' (normally followed by a swift exit from the show)?

Actually, I thought he was going to do a Simon Cowell, the other night and say he'd been "converted," like Cowell did a few years ago to an act he'd been slagging off for weeks..

Nowt wrong with that, if the act finally does something praiseworthy..
Not seeing any sign of that, so far, from the dreadful one.

If it's going to happen, it'll be this week seeing as he's doing a performance which will prove his vocals (although only the first part, not the exit). Would be great if he sang a Take That song.

Crosses himself..please, anything but that!

Yep, I too am looking forward to this "stripped down," performance..but I'll bet he's unable to get more than 30 seconds in before he can't help himself shouting:

"X-Factor, make some noise.".....therefore drowning out what could turn out to be a flawless performance..and we get to miss it!

Rich.

This Saturday: "I preferred you when you were doing the dance stuff,"

Two weeks later "I quite liked that"

I sorta hope he can hold off throughout the performance Although it's like his little thing now, I'll miss it if he doesn't do it tbh.

I do think he'll be concentrating extremely hard on his vocals though this week in attempt to impress Gary and the public with his voice, and I really hope he does.

I believe he actually does 'quite like Rylan' already, but he is playing at not liking him for the show dynamic.

You only had to see how much fun Gary was having last Saturday watching Rylan. He was smiling and laughing and obviously entertained. You certainly are unlikely to do that for someone you think isn't any good.

I've been saying to my OH for weeks, that it won't be long before we hear those dreaded words 'I can't believe I'm saying this Rylan, but I actually quite enjoyed that'. It's just like a lot of things on this show and what has put me off in a lot of ways. The transparency and predictability.

Exactly what Gillypoots just said

They're trying to make Gary sound the big bad guy who doesn't like Rylan so that they can carry him for a bit in the show (like Simon did with Jedward) if Rylan ended up in the bottom two people would be surprised when Gary randomly saves him. Which starts Gary beginning a whole "oh I quite liked that" and then Gary will be on his side, and Rylan will slowly fizzle out and get eliminated

When the producers think that that story arc has run its course and not before.

Is the correct answer.

Probably the week after he's survived long enough to be part of the X Factor tour.

Gary loved having Rylan wriggle his crotch in his face.

That's the reason I think Jade was eliminated.
They would have been left with one boy band and too many girls for the tour, had Union J been voted off.

Simon Cowell would always do that, cant see Gary being as predictable.

Rylan is nice and likeable but he's not entertaining really and he cant sing, it's bizarre.

Cowell liked Jedward in Halloween week after Ghostbusters, so not long until the script change

It will be week 6 or 7. And Rylan will be eliminated in the same week. It happens every year.

I hope he's not that predictable. However I mostly agree with your opinion on Rylan, though I don't particularly like him. His OTT crying gets on my nerves.
