Somebody (a Steve fan btw, so no-one can be accused of favouritism) posted this on another forum:
g4 were at Sony yesterday but when they came out Mike said there was no deal to sign, and they were on their way to meet another label for a meeting, so as far as I know no deal is signed, but They've said its not with Sony? I guess people thought they were signing because Louis was telling the world and their mama that g4 had a meeting with Sony?
Just for info, there was no source so don't shoot me down (forum was the x-factor.co.uk/popidol btw)
I do think it's all a bit premature.....

Just to reiterate what has already been mentioned
1 - simon owns Syco
2 - Simon does not own a label
3 - Simon works for Sony/BMG
4 - Simon said He will only sign the winner
5 - The winner must be signed to Sony/BMG as Simon works for them.
6 - The runner up will only be signed within 3 months if Simon releases the runner up from contract
7 - if he release the runner up - he will be (potentially defrauding the GBP).
So as the contestants are contracted to Syco, sony cannot make the decision. That lies with Simon. He will only release them from contract if he is able to find a water tight excuse to the comments he has already made regarding them not being signed.
