He was never meant to be a joke act but in the run-up to the live shows wasn't he edited as arrogant and the "villain" of the series???

Yeah, Rylan was the villain. Like Weasel, and used in exactly the same way right from the first show of the lives. He's now morphing into a bit of a more sympathetic Kitty now he's been used for his purpose.

The joke act is the one who turns into the villain by repeatedly knocking out the other contestants. The joke act is the one who Simon wants off the show, but doesn't really.

The joke act this year was in disguise, and it was Lucifer.

Stacy Solomon is easily one of the best singers the show has ever had.
