What the hell has happened to WORKING hard for your awards and titles.

Peopel have to release one song these days and their looks will carry them the rest of the way

The praise and adoration heaped on 1DIMENSION is SO disproportionate to what theyve actually achieved its beyond laughable when people compare them to the greats.

Ive seen them called 'The New Beatles'

:O Are people actually in cloud cookoo land with this.

This 'band' has been force fed to us so vigorously

They are not good, they are not worthy of awards and they certainly arent worthy of a 'tour' when theyve had 1 remotely memorable song!

Awful awful phenomenon

And now every boyband that appears is being stacked against them like theyre some sort of music gods!!

It appears its not about talent anymore but the way someone looks!

1dimesnion union j and the 3 degrees....i mean district 3 are all god awful!

I never got the love when they were on X FACTOR and i certainly do not get it now! they are mediocre

sorry but this is a lot of b*ll.

each and every act is on their toes all of the time coz who really knows what tomorrow bring?

at least the boys has achieved astonishing success in their time and in fact are still on top of their game.

They are possibly the worst 'music act' ever. Not one of them has a single ounce of talent and they're only popular because horrid teenagers think they are well fit.

Hopefully they'll go back in to obscurity soon so real singers can get a chance

poor "real singers"... you make them out like little precious charisma-free inutiles who won't be noticed with the boys around...

fyi, other artists still got their chance and got their own hits even no1s vis a vis 1D, lolz!!

OK so lock me up! When the Beatles first appeared I was at school. There were hysterical scenes wherever they appeared. Some people who were 'serious' about music said they were rubblish. Others said they were talentless and wouldn't last. Some of the older generation thought they were turning teenagers to sex drugs and rock and roll. I accept that the Beatles were great song writers and that make them different. But I can assure you that the big love for the Beatles had nothing to do with their talent as songwriters, and everything to do with the fact that they were four very good looking young men.

Musical aclaim came later. The Beatles got where they were because they attracted hysterical teenage girl fans wherever they were, and that in turn got them loads of publicity.

Ring any bells?

One Direction have got 9 dates booked at the O2 - that's a pretty good achievement in my book. I loved the Beatles way back then, and now I'm loving One Direction.

Hardly a music snob. I don't listen to autotuned, unoriginal chav music.

Fair enough, but this thread is about One Direction and I assume you must listen to them or you would not be able to form such detailed opinions on them.

Well I think they are brilliant, and they seem like really nice young men, far more savoury than some of the idols that were around when I was a teenager.

Their new song is pretty great. No idea why Ed Sheeran didn't release it himself.

I don't get the all the hate. They are a limited life pop act, let them have their time. There have been pop acts like 1D before - The Osmonds, the Rollers etc. They all have a sell by date and it's never very long. I'd rather listen to them than any rap.

I think you do need locking up.

The Beatles were a talented bunch, they wrote their own material and influenced music.

The only similarity is the kiddie hysteria.- otherwise there really is no parallel. And I don't like The Beatles particularly ...
