What do you think is the ultimate song to raise your spirits?

Bit of a change from the staple diet of "depressing songs to suit my mood" threads (im responsible for many!)

This is gonna make me sound stupid, but I absolutely love The Ketchup Song by Las Ketchup. It's got such a brilliant beat, it's so summery and cheery, I can't keep still when it comes on! I also love Everything Changes But You by Take That

The old classics like Brown-Eyed Girl by van Morrison and Want You Back by the Jackson 5 always cheer me up!

All of the Polyphonic Spree's 'Together We're Heavy'. A wonderfully uplifting album.

I agree. Especially Westside, shouting "CHORUS!" before the chorus.

"light and day" is a brilliantly up song.

other good ones are "fashion crisis hits new york" by the frank and walters - just so deliriously silly.

and "sexuality" by billy bragg.

"Song 2" by Blur.

If that doesn't get you jumping around your living room, nothing will

I like a bit of Stevie Wonder, particularly the classics 'Uptight', 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' and 'Sir Duke'.

Also, some of The Cure's happy songs such as 'Mint Car' and 'Just Like Heaven' are just perfect.

Feeder - Just a Day, Wonderstuff - Size of a Cow, REM - End of the world as we know it, Steve Harley & The Cockney Rebel - Come up and see me (make me smile) and Haircut 100 - Fantastic Day.

Forgot to mention; Let there be Rockgrass by Hayseed Dixie has to be the ultimate pick up album. If you listen to Radio 2 changes are you already know it, but their version of "I believe in a Thing Called Love" is fantastic

Actually there was a little thing in the newspaper not long ago where research was conducted on which songs lifted people's moods (e.g people with Seasonal Affected Disorder or mild depression) and Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves came top of the results. Apparently when it was tested, it produced the highest level of happiness and positive signals to the brain
