Morrisons now the most expensive mainstream supermarket?
I've just moved near one and is it just me or are they stunningly expensive?
Presumably they get away with it by not having home delivery or being on mysupermarket.com thus avoiding most study of their prices and in store hiding behind all the fake high street 'fresh' bobbins. £2.33 for a 500ml jar of Dolmio seems a bit excessive to me. |

It is. Just buy some tomatoes and mushrooms and make your own.
Mind you Sainsburys is also £2.33 if you buy the extra mushroom one. |

It's the most expensive out of ASDA and Tesco. We only have small Sainsbury's stores and they would be more expensive anyway with not being a superstore.
Some of their fresh meat is good value though. |

Pricey for the rather average quality of their own brand stuff I think.

I'd agree it has medium quality fruit and veg (apart from the show-piece displays) and fish is always touch-and-go on the sell-by date, and there was the one occasion when my wife asked for "that blue veined cheese at the front" to be told "oh, that shouldn't be mouldy"; But, the bakery is pretty good compared to most supermarkets.
However, yes, the prices have risen significantly recently - but are they really more expensive than Sainsburys? (I refuse to buy many/most items in Sainsburys because I know they are significantly more expensive to what I'm used to paying at Morrisons - more so the big named brands that are common across both businesses)... maybe I need to compare prices again. Their shops do appear to be systematically upgraded to clean modern stores, but I think once their established customers realise their prices are creeping above their major competitors there might be a rethink from their customer base, many of whom use them for their original low pricing. |

Local corner shop sells it for around £1.80 (once again proving their cometitveness despite what the big chains make you beleive)

Why don't Morrisons have their own brand beer anyway?
Bloody amateurs.. Their medium dry cider is very nice though but that's made for them by Gaymers. |

I thought Morrisons was cheaper than Tesco but dearer than Asda?
Everyone goes to Aldi where I live these days anyway. |

It's going to be a few pence at most. Does it really matter?
The constant obsessive way supermarkets compete and fight for 'lower' prices is ultimately damaging. You have people on here, for example who will preach at me now, saying they are forced to find weekly bargains, and buy the very cheapest food at the very cheapest shops. Really? And they're on here... on their computers.... probably on broadband. |

Sainsburys seem to have become much more competitive lately, I've always found Morrisons to be pretty average in terms of quality.
My nearest is a Co-Op and that combines high prices and average quality, happily theres an Asda not too far away |

I don't know how Morrisons compare with Sainsburys, but I think Tesco are cheaper than Morrisons.

I like Morrisons as I think they have good offers on weekly and I love their 'Market Street'. I don't find them any more expensive than any of the other big supermarkets but it is my supermarket of choice as I don't have an Asda near to me - I think Asda probably would be otherwise, for both price and variety....
I always pop in asda when I'm visiting my sister as it's down the road and they seem to have such a wider range of products than any other supermarket i've been to - frozen and fresh mainly that i've found. Maybe it's just the novelty but definitely seems that way to me! |

In the paper they do a weekly comparison of a selection of items (bread, milk, etc) from 5 supermarkets and Morrisons is always within the top 3 from a cheapest point of view. Asda is more often classed as the cheapest.
I shop at Morrisons because i do like their products but mainly because its nearest to home for me. |

Morrisons are not on mysupermarket because they do not yet have an online food offering. When they do, they will.
I don't find them to be more expensive overall, and their 'Store of the Future' Fresh Market format is fantastic, the range of fruit and veg is enormous. I like the butchery and deli counters too plus of course their bakery. I find them comparable price wise to Tesco but better quality. I don't like Asda's cluttered appearance (the one near me anyway) and Tesco customer service is dire. |

Less than £2 for 4 cans?.. I wouldn't expect it to be any good, I'm just going off what customers have said too.
