Thinking about it, 2012's The Voice is better imo

At the time, I thought the auditions for The Voice were good, but after that it wasn't. And by no means was it perfect. However, The Voice doesn't seem manipulated, seems like a fair contest, it seems so much more genuine, every contestant plays to their strengths and seem to have an equal chance.

They just need to tweak the format a bit so that you get to know the finalists more and feel you can invest in them. Also I didn't like how after Leanne won it was really rushed, no mention of her single, and it soon ended.

But yeh, bring on the next The Voice, and I'm sure second series, they'll work on improvements from the first one, and thus produce a better show.

The Voice would never have Rylan beating Carolynne, Union J beating Jade etc. They always made the RIGHT decision imo, never did you get the impression that producers were involved.

I would have to agree, although the way the live shows ran on The Voice was not well handled and it did look messy towards the end.

Yeh. I didn't like that the results weren't live either. But I guess, it shouldn't be a problem as it doesn't do Strictly any harm. Also, it did seem rushed from the live shows onwards.

you see this is where its a mixed bag. Personally I think the voices auditions were better but live shows were worse. Whilst X factors auditions were worse but live shows have been in a better format. If you could combine the voices auditions and battle rounds with the x factor's live show format that could be a hit

The only problem with The Voice for me was the format at the live shows, with one from each team going. I'm a bit behind on the current Voice US but if I'm not mistaken, they've changed the format for this season so I'm hoping the UK version follows suit.

For me, The Voice is just a better show - better judges/coaches, better song choices, better talent, and overall, was much fairer than X Factor is.

But they don't create artists that can sell records!

That can be argued because Tyler is doing fairly well and Bo managed to get her EP 2nd in the charts.

The Voice format worked until the Lives then it was too many going too soon IMO and the tempo/ rhythm of the lives eg judges comments etc didn't seem to sit right.

There are problems with both shows IMO; however The Voice stems from being a new show in the UK, the XF's stems from tired ideas and lack of imagination.

The finalists for the Voice however I think had alot more potential and better voices than the vast majority of ther XFs final 12

I really wouldn't go that far.

XF is just constantly shooting itself in the foot and giving the audience more of what they've already said they don't want.

The Voice's format is just completely broken in multiple ways, and more manipulated than XF actually. The finalists engineered to never have to even compete against each other. Just all shrouded in the smoke and mirrors of a 'serious' singing competition.

The live shows were diabolical, at least XF can be quite amusing when it's coming off the tracks.

I only tuned in for a couple of the main shows and accidentally caught it, when I turned the T.V. on a couple of times while I wanted something to watch while I was cooking..

However, what I saw didn't do it for me..
Firstly, the standard of performances were really dodgy, I remember seeing a couple murdering "Go Your Own Way," by Fleetwood Mac..the tuning was appalling.

That, in itself didn't worry too much till I heard the judges giving it nothing but positive comments, something the performance didn't deserve.

One of the other times I caught it, the judges were, for want of a better word, "jiggling," around in a ridiculous fashion, in time to a song being sung and I thought it was totally naff.

Actually now, we're starting to see that happening more and more on the X-Factor..
I can't wait to see Gary Barlow up on his feet really letting rip when Rylan "performs," next week.

The Voice was great. It gave all the artists a fair chance to succeed and wasnt manipulated to the level of XFactor. All the singers in the live shows were very good, no joke acts. The coaches were all credible musicians who have had lots of success and are respected in the industry. Overall it was a much better show than XFactor and was way more popular than the first season of XF.

You make some valid pints but only If they (BBC) apply the changes that NBC have on this season's Voice (which is currently murdering Xfactor US both in talent and in ratings). We'll have to wait & see if the talent is just a strong.

I'm glad you liked the coaches, because that's all you ever heard from rambling on.

None - they sold CD's

Untill Series 3 of X Factor, none of them had major success and the majority flopped.

I don't see that as a problem for the voice, I'm sure eventually they will get that one star which changed peoples perception forever.

It will be lucky to last this one more series to even find out.

The only thing that's helped it again is XF screwing up majorly.

I think its hilarious that you can say that and 100% stand by your post.

The Voice is even more unfair than X Factor is. Its luck of the draw- if you're one of the first to audition but not very good, you're still more likely to get through than very good acts who audition later. And it did happen. On X Factor, everyone gets the chance to make it past the first round, whereas on The Voice the places are limited.

Secondly, the battle rounds see two contestants performing the same song. The singers aren't always evenly matched by voice or style, and as we know from X Factor, song choice can be critical. That definitely puts some contestants at a disadvantage.

Thirdly, The Voice was worse on sob stories than X Factor ever has been, making some contestants much more prominent than others.

The Voice is just as manipulated as X Factor, but because of the style of singer they have and the coaches, they put up a credible facade that unbelievably, people buy into. At least X Factor isn't pretending to be something it isn't.

I did enjoy The Voice, but it just needs to be taken less seriously by all involved and they desperately need to sort out the live shows.

The Voice is a serious show which celebrates the good in music and nurtures new artists in an organic way. Just because no one from the series 1 has had success yet doesnt mean they might no in the future. These credible acts need to be given time to gig, write their music and interact with their growing fanbases and then the success will come. From XFactor 1, Steve Brookenstein didnt do any good but the show has gone on for 9 years. From the Voice series 1, the winner hasnt done good but other acts might do and the show can go on for many seasons.

Exactly.

It's wholly engineered with even less risks taken with the pesky British public. Finalists could be called week 1, the only amusing thing was watching the rise of the middle of the road underdog which they hadn't planned for.

Giving them a winner no one can remember.

Xfactor US is a flop and it just got renewed. Like I said above the changes (you can go google them yourself) will potentially (depends on the strength of talent, the chemistry will be better between the judges) is all that remains.

The auditions might be unfair how not everyone gets a chance. But imo, once the finalists are chosen. There is no "obvious producers favourite" and no one being shoved down your throats. No themes, everyone does what they do best and has an equal chance.

The thing is, whilst they were winning in the ratings it was "all about the voice". But by week 3 or 4 when the ratings were on the skids, and to quote Jessie J "it isn't just about the voice".

XF UK will have massive changes for it's 10 series next year, that's been the plan all along.

They've been dropping hints at it all over the place, it's the only thing they can do now to try and revive interest.

Cue camera crews in private hospitals filming someone getting an ultrasound, while some bloke sings to his pregnant wife in the audience bathed in a spotlight.

While half the country is collectively sick.
