Disney also acquire Lucasfilm and ILM.
Kathleen Kennedy, current Co-Chairman of Lucasfilm, will become President of Lucasfilm, reporting to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. Additionally she will serve as the brand manager for Star Wars, working directly with Disney's global lines of business to build, further integrate, and maximize the value of this global franchise. Ms. Kennedy will serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films, with George Lucas serving as creative consultant. Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga and grow the franchise well into the future.

No more prequels. This has to be after Revenge, definitely. Will we see Luke and Leia again? Oh my...

Although some Star Wars fans may not have been impressed with the second trilogy, George Lucas, at the time of the release of Star Wars 4 A New Hope always envisaged that there would be three trilogies.... {4,5,6}, followed by {1,2,3} and then {7,8,9}.

I never thought George would give anyone else control over any future live action star wars films apart from himself, so this is just a bit of a shock.

If the Marvel deal is anything to go by then I don't have a bad feeling about this.

Interesting quote from George:
"It's now time for me to pass 'Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers," said Lucas, 68, in a statement.

This is what it needs, a fresh direction away from Lucas.

I think its Brilliant news
Starwars is always bigger than they made of the idea
Disney are not going to spend all this money just to churn out terrible films thats a cert.

It was the Same with Indiana Jones Brilliant films then stopped dead with a massive long delay and lead actor just gone past playing the Role when they finally made a new film.

Don't Disney now own the rights to Star Wars now that Lucas has sold Lucasfilm.

This opens the way for an Avengers/Star Wars tie in. Darth Vader could be the villain in The Avengers 3.
