and seeing that girls abroad love the "britishness" of current successful groups like 1D, why not make this group's name that? lolz!!

The band name is Union J.

The J stands for Jack.

Union Jack is the British flag.

They are British.

It all ties together.

I thought it was due to their initial and the fact the group is a "union". George was added to the band later and they had the "triple" name before.

I didn't clock that, how funny. I think it was because they were 'Triple J' and it was changed to 'Union J' because they added George. I thought it odd to keep the 'J' since he's 'G' but that makes more sense now. Quite clever...

Explains why they are all at sea at the moment, should have gone with Union F.
