Adding Cinema Speakers to Hi-Fi
Grateful for any advice.
I currently run separate hi-fi and Prologic (Yam AV1) home cinema systems. On the hi fi I have my lovely, if large, and old Mission 770s. These are still better than anything I've heard (and can afford) so ideally I want to keep them. The rest is, in a word, junk. Ideally - if it's not too expensive- I would like to combine systems while upgrading to 5.1, so the cinema amp also needs to be good enough for music - and ideally cheap (did I mention that). Quite tempted by the Yam RXV396RDS (only £119 at Richer Sounds) but it does seem almost too cheap (get the idea?). Does anyone have any opinions on this amp for watching movies and listening to music. And the other part of my dilemma. How can I find a centre speaker which will complement the Missions - are impedance and sensitivity relevant here - and what are the smallest rears I can reasonably get away with? By way of background, at the moment all five of the YAM AV1 speakers are diddy small things (exc the sub). I read that 5.1 has full frequency response but haven't got room under the telly for anything much bigger than what I already have (Ive currently got the vcr, dvd, digisat, analoguesat and itvdig stacked up with the centre speaker teetering on the brink half way up). I presume I won't need a sub, as I have plenty bass from the 770s. Thanks in advance
