If the stories are correct about G4 being signed today, does anyone else feel that it was a complete and utter waste of time and money to have voted on Saturday?

I know,I do.

I do find it rather odd that all Cowel's talk about the winner being the only one to get a contract is apparently revealed to be complete rubbish so quickly. I don't think I actually ever believed him anyway.

i suppose this is true, but it would be a shame to waste what soem people think is talent with G4, we all have our favourites, i would like to see rowetta and tabby have a deal.

But i do not see the point in these shows if they get signed up anyway, i suppose its always good beig known as the outright winner though.

He only said by him, people forget that Simon Cowell isnt the only man able to give out record contracts at the drop of a hat.

Dont they sign some bond that means they cant sign any deals or atleast have any albums out until six months after the show.

Roughly quoting Kate Thornton.......'The winner gets a £1 000 000 deal.The loser gets nothing.'........bit of a con,wasn't it?

Don't feel like that fannianni

G4 have supposedly got a record contract now because in the short-term at least they are far more commercial than our Steve, if Steve hadn't won, being an older contestant with an older appeal I don't think he would have got signed by anyone else, or at least would have struggled, so it wasn't in vain, don't you worry!

I agree with you though that it does take the shine of Steve's win, he's not so special now that the 'losers' have the same prize as him really, but remember we voted for Steve to win, not for G4 to lose!!

(good luck to both acts with their record deals btw, if indeed G4 did sign one today.)

I've got no problem with G4 getting a deal .........but two days later is an absurd timescale to have it all over the press.

What happened to being tied for three months or until the end of the tour?

Its probably all speculation atm, official they havent got anything from the show. Only the advertising.

So when kate says the loser gets nothing, it does get nothing, from the inner circle of the X factor, but when they get released into the big wide world, then people can do anything with them.

it is a complicated concept.

It did seem a bit soon to me too.

From what I know of the story, the deal is actually with Sony/BMG who are the record company associated with the X Factor, so there's no problems with them offering the boys a deal within the 3 months.

Is that right?

Contract law not my forte!

Chin up love!

You're surely not surprised are you? It's all a con designed to rake in money, and sod all to do with the likes of you and me.

........And, to cap it all, they have the nerve to suggest that we chose the person with the XF. Like hell we did. The finalists were chosen by the judges, not the GBP.

Something needs to change before the next series otherwise people are going to see it for the cynical manipulation that it was

Phew

For all we know other finalists like Tabby and Rowetta might already have deals lined up but haven't been able to say anything until after the series ended. Good luck to them if they have.

........that is my point about being 'released' which should have meant that they couldn't get any publicity about deals until a decent period of time had lapsed. We're talking two days here.

Can't really see one division of Sony suing another division.

Agreed.I just feel that folk were spending large amounts of money voting (not me,I hasten to add) for what exactly?

It says on teletext that the band will not be able to sign a contract for 3 months because Simon Cowell still controls them

They are still under contract, like i said its probably all speculation, after 3 months or sixth months they will be allowed to do whatever they want, so the concept "the winner gets nothing" isnt entirely untrue, from the makers point of view.

they are tied for three months, they can sign as many contracts as they want but if simon says no records or appearances for three months there is nothing they can do about it they are under contract for three months after the end of the final, i think louie has done a lot of spin doctoring and everyone knows hes good at that

it would not be that though, it would be Syco (the company that owns Xfactor format ) that sues any record label that signs G4

for what exactly? To make some very rich people richer.

I didn't vote after it was announced that the judges had the final say - what was the point?

Whilst I don't begrudge G4 a record contract and wish them the best for the future, if this is true, it devalues the whole competition and finally shows it up to be the farce it was turning in to.

I'm not begrudging G4 their contract........its just the timescale has made a fool out of everyone who picked up a phone and voted on Saturday. That equally applies to everyone who voted for G4.There really was no point in voting at all.

I didn't vote all series (and have never voted in these things) for pretty much that reason. It seems pointless voting for a "winner" when half the "losers" will also get signed up.

I do think a large portion of votes are probably made up of people who don't even pay the telephone bill!

or could all this hype about contracts be an idea from louie to take the shine off steves win,,,i can imagine him saying "look they were buskers they have the xfactor they have a bigger contract i am the winner not simon"
