IF that interesting theory is correct,I hope he's scuppered any chance of doing X-Factor2.

does anyone honestly think they will let the second place act release an album so soon as a couple of weeks after the final, as it has been reported, ...they do want to make Xfactor two next year dont they? , ..people just would not vote because they know the ones in second or even third place would get a contract and release records, it defeats the object of voting for your favorite to win

Didn't they defeat that object by introducing the judges vote?

They just can't release a single until after the UK tour. Well, that's the PR stunt anyway, and quite right too. It's either all or nothing, have the finalists go head to head in the charts ala American Idol (which personally I would've chosen to do) or give the full spotlight to the winner in the short term, otherwise it doesn't set a good precedent for future shows of the ilk.

G4 are an exception to the rule of getting a big money deal, I think even without X-Factor they would've eventually been signed up; they were attending auditions other than the one they had to get on the show. Unlike past losing finalists, they are a shoe-in to make Sony/BMG money as their main base of fans are alternative and very passionate about the style of singing they perform. My Grandmother phoned me up the other day trying to blag tickets to the MEN X-Factor show to see G4 and if Iit wasn't for the fact I am able to get them for free, she'd happily shell out £30 to go and see them (or whatever it is). The younger fans, for the most part, just sit on these shareware programs downloading their fav artists music for free, hence labels can't make as much money on them as they're more in tune with technology. I hope I made some kind of sense here?

Its reality TV. The GBP spends a fortune on voting because thats the idea of reality TV contests.

Reality tv history shows that there probably isn't much point voting in the final, as second place has ALWAYS been signed up:

PI1 - Gareth signed
PI2 - Sam and Mark signed
Fame Academy - Lemar and Sinead signed
FA2 - Erm, thingybob signed, Alistair?
Popstars - Liberty X signed

Over half of them died a death not much later, of course (although roughly the same fatality rate as the winners), but they still got signed. "The runner up gets nothing" claims were crap anyway, because X Factor isn't legally allowed to hold them in limbo for too long, anyway.

its a bit of a farce though if the runners up are allowed to release a record within a few days as the winner releases one, in the long run it didnt do gareth any good did it

Gareth did alright while it lasted, he SHOULD have a few bob in the bank. His songs were never much cop though and he had a PR disaster with the Jordan thing, both contributed to kill him off, as well as his teen fans moving on to Busted or whoever.

I suspect it's all happened with G4 so fast because Decca Classical were apparently hovering, ready to swoop in. I wouldn't be suprised if Cowell isn't too happy about whats happened, but he might have been overruled by his bosses at Sony. I'm sure he won't be happy about it all going public so quickly, so he won't be too happy with Mr Walsh.

Interesting how Sony signed them, not the BMG arm, seems like a lame attempt to cover up that they've been signed by his company, inspite of what he said.

Theres a simple solution to anyone whos not happy though, don't vote at the next final. I'm not bothered, I never vote, I just enjoy the show and let whatever happen

i think its still all speculation, theres nothing in the press from sony or anyone involved in the Xfactor, the only thing that has been said is that there were a few offers on the table, then a tabloid said they had signed, its a bit like chinese whispers, theres a little information given out(no doubt by louie) and the rest is left to the tabloids and hyserical fans

From one multi voter - ME .

I'm still glad I spent my 10s of £. It was worth it to keep Louis smug face off the TV.

And - good luck to G4 with their contract. When they get a record out in 3 months time, I'm sure it will do well.

Well it has been reported as fact by the ITV news, and I THINK Channel 4 news websites. Channel 4 news I have alot of respect for and ITV news I respect more than a tabloid, so I'm more believing than disbelieving at present.

it was reported by itv and channel 4, but they didnt get their information from sony/bmg or syco, they said it was reported, that means they could have just listened to gossip or read the papers just like most do, i tend to belive things when they are certain not before hand

If you read the wording, theres no "it's been reported" about it, they're treating it as their story
