I agree with all of this Steph. I don't have a problem with both of thier past behaviour being raised in the 7 minute chat. I actually do want it because it still annoys me to this day that none of last year was addressed, especially the adoption stuff, which is still a sore point for me.

The only thing I take an issue is Christian grovelling or chasing Syed of ANY kind. It would send out a terrible message, and it would just make Christian look desperate. The audience may even question thier happy ending, if it has to take Christian to convince Syed for them to be together, after everything Syed did.

I want to see Syed work for it. Syed has to make the first move IMO when it comes to thier sunset ending.

We have all said (or a lot of us) that this is a rotten exit s/l where they have made Syed do all this stuff over a month or so...it feels contrived. But yes he needs to apologise and it seems to me he has and is and will again. And no it cannot be denied that Christian has been an absolute saint over this. Christian the saint and Syed the sinner at every turn in this part of the story.This exit s/l.

But I think if Christian is allowed insecurites over Syed's behaviour prior to him accepting himself as a gay muslim than Syed is ceratinly allowed some after a year where he must have constantly felt not up to scratch for Christian..always having to pull his socks up until he accepted his place or agreed to whatever it was Christian was expecting of him.
I've never said Syed shouldn't grovel...just that because there was a definite inbalance in their relationship and if this exit is all going to be about Syed's making it up to Christian..again...then that inbalance has not been fixed.

But that was never even suggested. My hope in fact was that after the talk...when hopefully maybe Christian also looks at some of his behaviour since they've been a couple...we already know Syed is getting hauled over the coals for his that's a given form the pics and what we know... but following some plain speaking from both...that he thinks twice about going...we know Syed chases him...it would be better for them I think if Christian realises that he made mistakes too and was forgiven...quite a few times.

It can't be fixed unless Syed BEHAVES like an equal, loving, supportive and honest partner.

He's got to prove he can. Because he has failed spectacularly at this recently.

But we don't have time for that. Acknowledgement and sincere love for Christian that he can BELIEVE is the only way at the moment.

Because Christian doesn't believe Syed wants or loves him really, that Syed wants more than he can offer.

But an argument bringing a few things up - not BF because, hey Christian's been looking after Syed's child....

Or the Amira debacle....er no, because Christian was right and Syed recognised it.

But the reveal...er no... because now Amira's in a great place.

It's just petty and would make Syed look even more of a dick.

It has to be Syed and Christian's honest feelings of doubt and insecurity, and proper conversations about THAT.

I think thier exit, both of their flaws will be raised so I doubt it will all be one-sided. In any case though, I want more explanation from Syed than I do Christian because I feel it's Syed's character that's in more desperate need of redeeming. Christian may not have spoke about the past but the audience have seen him be nothing but a loving and supportive partner this year, where as Syed's character has been assasinated. The audience needs to feel for him and we need to get into his mind-set far more than we do Christian. I think he's been silent Sy through this storyline and his one liners to Christian tonight "I made a mistake" were pitiful. There is no fire in his belly.

I know you don't want to see Syed chasing Christian again but really I don't see what other way it's going to work because I really feel the audience needs to see Syed fighting for Christian this time. What he's done has been deplorable and he needs to convince Christian that he does love him and is truely sorry. More importantly, he needs to convince us. I'm convinced of Christian's feelings for Syed but not Syed's, not anymore. The writers have really messed with us and we can't always fit the pieces in our heads.

I'm disapointed that we never got that from Christian last year but I can't let past contrivances such as this get in the way of what should be done and what's natural to the story. If Christian had cheated and Syed did bf last year, I'd be saying exactly the same.

If it's paragraph b and from the spoilers and pics I do fear it could be, then it's going to be 100% disappointing and I won't feel them at all and wish they'd stayed spilt up. How many times did they need to make us go through that story arc. Oh well.

I think Christian's baby hunger will be used - because it's a source of present problems - Yasmin being given to Amira without consultation.

Syed will say he loves the 'family' idea more than him.

This might be countered by Christian talking about how important he thought family was to Syed and what he's gone through for that etc.

The whole lying thing, the relationship being tainted with lies will come up as the relationship was surrounded by lies from the start.

Thus, these things will be broached because of their RELEVANCE to NOW and in THAT context.

That would be fine.

I would like this. I'd like the whole adoption thing to come up. It was hardly ever discussed.

I just hope it doesn't come across as point scoring (like Zainab and Christian's argument in the flat was).

It's got to be natural.

However we do have Pete so I'm confident.

I feel that it'll be okay too. Some proper interaction that will bring the ISSUES between them up.

I think to have a fresh start both Chryed need to have their voice heard, and for both of them to understand they have each made mistakes( as we all do). And it's hard that Syed has been the one that has made all the mistakes in the final story and that's something that I am not comfortable with. But if one of them does have to run after the other. For me to believe Chryed have a happy future ahead it does need to be Syed doing the chasing.

That scenario for me just makes it APPEAR that they’re equally at fault, which is why I have a hard time stomaching such an ending.

Yes they both need to recognise their mistakes but Syed fundamentally needs to be the driving force in the reunion as his mistakes were far greater, therefore he has a far greater mountain to climb than his partner.

Mistakes even aside here, he needs to prove to his partner that he actually loves him because again it appears that he lied through his teeth on his wedding!

There will be fic after the boys escape from EE. Never fear!

Amira's fate in my fics is about to change. I was going to have her expire in the storied fatal wardrobe malfunction.

But now I think that she'll fall asleep in her car, it will be towed, and she'll wake up just as the car crusher turns her and it into a very small cube of metal and glass bits...

Oh dear, horrible to the bitter end and not even that much screentime on their final day it seems, two-hander or not. And I think we can safely say they'll be no tears of happiness when they reunite - if they do.

You can tell I've had enough of their misery when Billy having a heart-to-heart with Alexa is more poniant.

How does Zainab have keys to the AB? How does she get them in there in the first place if it's bordered up?

As for Christian begging Amira to let Yasmin stay, it's the desperate act of a desperate man I suppose.

It's no worse than Christian begging over Yasmin, really, in terms of motivation over why they try to get back together. Christian can't get back with Syed unless it's his love for Syed that's most important.

I really doubt it....
