Band Aid 20 Vs. Steve Brookstein for No.1 on Boxing Day
Who do you think will gain the No.1 position on Boxing Day?
(Obvious that Band Aid 20 will be Xmas No.1) People assume it'll be Steve, but Band Aid 20 will have 5 days to sell before Christmas and with sales of over 280k each week for the last 2 weeks it looks like it could keep it off the top spot. |

I think it will still be Band Aid 20 in the No.1 slot on Boxing day.
Quite a few people don't rush out to the shops until a few days before Christmas and will no doubt grab a few for stocking fillers. They will have seen the promotion for it, know it's a charity record and know the name of the single before they even gone into the shop. It can provide the feel good factor, knowing you have done your bit to help the starving africans. Steve's single will be released on the 20th, so not so long for promotion, some people vote for a winner, but then don't buy the single (people like my mum). It will probably sell very well, but I will be amazed if it got to No.1 on Boxing day. |

Band Aid sold approx 292,00 first week, 287,849 second week. This week it may sell 250,000. Next week, hard to say, even if it drops to 150,000 I think Steve will be pushed to match that.

Couldn't Simon Cowell have waited till after Christmas to line his pockets even more? I'll be buying another Band Aid cd on the 20th, the people of Dafur are a lot more deserving of my money than a talentless pub singer and a con man.

over 5 million peeps dont agree with you,
So you are assuming that five million people voted for him! Some people vote many, many times. The actual people who voted would be more in the region of 500,00 and that's pushing it.

5.2 million calls for steve 3 million for G4. Official figures.
Yes, people multi-vote, but then if you assume 500,000 people actually voted Steve, you must assume that 300,000 voted for G4. Going on those assumptions, Steve will need over 20% of those who voted for him to buy his single to get number one I reckon, as he is up against Band Aid. I'm not sure he will do it. |

Even good number ones find it hard to sell 50,000 these days, and after his bad start at The Top Of The Pops concert last weekend, Steve will probably be little competition for the steamroller that is the almighty Band Aid 20.

Given the choice of buying either a charity single that will help people who really need it, or a single by a reality tv star, I know which i'd buy... (Band Aid for anyone who isn't sure).

Simon Cowell invest in Britain his group of Companies employ 1000's of British people the Record sales boost UK Business and benefits millions of us, alternatively the Band Aid bull by the time it gets to Africa is about the equivlent of 4p per cd sold after admisistration costs, Even if 4p could do anything is it not time We started looking after our own people and our own Children there is enough poverty and needy in the UK its time to look after them because the way things are going it will be us that ends up as a 3rd world Country.
That my bit for today I would not even waste my time downloading Crap Aid for free off limewire etc |

You'd think these talent show winners would have sussed by now thaT releasing records is not the way to go.
They'd be much better off snapping up a few adverts as soon as they finish the show. They'd probably make far more money. |

Better still, buy Band Aid 20 and Ronan & Yusuf. Then you'll be donating your cash twice to The Band Aid Trust and getting two good singles out of it instead of no money to charity and no good singles.
Even better, buy those two and Bo Selecta and then you'll be giving to charity thrice. |

What charity is the Ronan & Yusuf single (the REAL Christmas Number One-and an excellent version as well!) for?
