may be because i am 48 havent sung for years , have another ocupation now, and dont usually say anything about my performing past , but sometimes you just have to kick back

I am not a fan of either of the finalists but do think that G4 performed better on the night and had improved the most (Louis got his act together at last with song choices). But these shows are decided early doors and by the quarter finals it doesn;t matter how you perform, your fan base is on hand. In the last 3 shows Steve was not good, he appeared to be very nervous but he survived and won. Now G4 were lucky to get thru the early stages but were superb at their thing the last 3 shows. Either way it doesn;t matter, if you like their music buy it when it's released but please do not think because you like one act you have to hate the other. It is so unfair to either act. They should both have a career (how long who knows) but they will achieve fame so please relax. Criticise their performances by all means and don;t jump on people who don;t appreciate your fav, different strokes for different folks

Ah that would explain you...but what about the other 5 over-qualified opera aces on here?! hehe, X-Factor brought them all out of the woodwork, clearly!

Ok, Lollapalooza, I'll answer your question.

I have a fair bit of experience in the opera world, classically trained from age 7, sang with the English National Opera for 10 years, also the Royal Opera, many choirs including NYC and have performed as a soloist in major concert halls. I do not see myself as an 'over-qualified opera ace', but it is my passion, I have dedicated my life to it and I am not ashamed of the knowledge I have gained over the years. I do not think this makes my opinion any more 'valid' than the next, but I will challenge the 'facts'.

I got into the Guildhall on the strength of my voice, but unfortunately got ill and remain very unwell years later, I have been unable to persue my career. Hence why I spend so much time on the internet and have shown an interest in G4 on the X Factor.

I never once said that Baileybots doesn't know anything about music because he/she does not like G4. I am suprised, however, that someone who used to be an opera singer in Italy has stated in other threads that 'Italian opera is boring' and, on more than one occasion, made reference to the 'four tenors'.

By posting my thoughts on a public forum, I expect to be challenged. Baileybots must accept the same, and must also expect others to 'kickback' when he/she does. It is not personal, just the nature of forum posting.

Seems likely G4 will get the recording contract they deserve (and being in the position of being able to pick and choose the most suitable one). A good result all round. ”

and you had the cheek to say i let down team steves thread so i have not been in it since, and dont you think you are letting team g4 down.wanting steve to get all this abuse from the papers and the media.
steve won so why so bitter now.
the only thing steve did was win the bloody thing, get over it.

yeah thank goodness!
I have just read all the way through the thread and I can safely say, I only know of one or two G4 fans who have been stirring up anti-Steve threads, but have seen plenty anti-G4 threads set up by Steve supporters
and I am not implying that all Steve supporters are anti-G4, I have been on the Team Steve thread on more than one occasion and they have been most civil to me
I personally have nothing against Steve and his Team and I am proud of G4 for getting as far as they did in the competition

Bailey, I have no problem with you, and am not saying I disbelieve you. I am simply challenging you, that's ok, isn't it? I was a little suprised as to your comment about Italian opera, because I have never known an opera singer who holds that opinion, that's all.

I was interested in talking to you further about your performing past, genuinely because I have a passion for opera, and love talking to others with a similar passion. Not because I wanted 'proof' of your past, it makes no odds to me either way.
My picking up on your '4 tenors' comment was because you had jumped down someone else's throat for not having heard of them, and I didn't think it was necessary.

I do, however, resent your 'teaching' comment. I am not trying to teach anyone anything, and have only posted my opinions from a 'classical POV' because I have been asked to. There have been occasions when people have posted nasty comments about, for example, the pitch of Jon's voice, and I have explained the technicalities of it in response. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

spell i honestly think its quite good that there is someone to give an opinion on opera and its honestly not unusual for singers to dislike italian opera, its nice to know someone is sticking up for opera, but it is my past, i cant dwell on it, i was devastated i cou;ld not sing any more if i had my way i would not even teach my daughter, but its easier and cheaper to do it myself, just keep on doing what you are doing, but remember different people have different tastes.
