Anyone familiar with all that will be reminded of it when they see the thing on the homepage, and a few more will be informed of it after googling what the 'incorrect' statement was.”

Really.

When you talk about the whole court mess, I would bet that the vast, vast majority of people did not even know that the court action had even been taken, or what it was about.

Also, when the first "apology" (which, as I expect you know) wasn't and isn't now an apology (that isn't what the court asked for) got a lot of press which allowed those that dislike Apple to get excited and the rest of the world to carry on.

This follow-up will draw almost zero interest.

Meanwhile, Apple are collecting more customers with the release of the ipad mini.

And yet it was the leading technology story on the BBC site, and covered by most broadsheets...

Though yeah its only a small part of why the mini sales have been below expectations...

Hopefully the judge will see this as an attempt to conceal the statement and force them to put it front-and-centre, due to their continual attempts to flout the order. Intentionally coding the page to keep the statement hidden from view isn't exactly complying with the spirit of the law. The best response the courts could give would be to now force them to make it more visible than their own product placement.

That would teach them that it would have made more sense to quietly comply with the order and not to try and make a mockery of the British legal system.”

I was unsure that it was being "hidden" from view by code or by just being too far down the page.

So with the wonders of NoScript, switch the scripts off Apple.com .... et voila, the text appeared.

This is a second case on which Apple should be found in contempt of the court. Its ridiculously childish, and as others have said its just buying them extra column inches in a bad way.

so more on this:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/11...pology_take_2/

on the UK page only, apple have added some script that resizes the picture of the mini so push the apology off the bottom of the page.

We've been discussing this for the last dozen or so posts (albeit from a different site) but The Register does link to an interesting comparison photo of the UK and US sites http://i.imgur.com/KH555.jpg , clearly demonstrating what we already knew, that Apple have done this Javascript thing quite deliberately, on the UK site only and with the obvious intention of making the 'apology' harder to notice, unless you are looking for it.

I'll be surprised though if the Court bothers much about it now, Samsung may complain again though.

they have also removed the redirect for UK visitors to http://www.apple.com/ that would normally push them to http://www.apple.com/uk/

they seem to have gone to a lot of trouble over something that some claim will not lose them a single sale...

also gives the media an excuse for another Apple story, making it far more known about than if apple just did a regular front page.

It does contain an error but I'm sure you can work it out.

So you obviously think it will effect sales. How many iPads did you expect them to sell this weekend. I see they only managed 3 million, they must be gutted.

Oh i don't expect it will put off the blind fanboys that will buy anything Apple put out!

Its the more reasonable ones that don't preorder or queue up for hours that are more likely to exercise a bit of judgement.

But it is the ones that preordered who would of seen the notice first. I assumed they would have all walked away in disgust!

not really, the latest notice went up on saturday; also please don't try and pretend I'm suggesting EVERYONE will be put off buying Apple products. that's not what I'm saying at all. It is only you that seems to think you can generalise and say "Apple will not lose a single sale".

The resize javascript has been in use for a while on the UK site and is used on many international sites, seems to just be the US one that doesn't use it.

Do you know why the court ordered them to put up the notice?

Also all your posts contain a grammatical error. I make plenty of mistakes, I'm dyslexic, but yours are huge.
Were - where
Of - have
Affect - effect
