I've borrowed Dead Island after reading up about it. I like the idea that it's similar to borderlands and can join other people.

But to start with I want to play alone, how do I do it?
If I go into the menu during the game, I go to the online section but I can't access the top options that would allow me to change my game to private.

Every now and then there's a random person running around my map. It's not just the fact I want to get to grips with the idea of the game first, but I don't want them stealing loot and XP if that's how it works.

There should be a Game Visibility option that lets you choose private in the options.

Haven't been on since so I'll look around. But I did see an option where it said "public" but it wouldn't let me physically scroll to that option to change it

It's on the main menu at the title screen, I think you may have to press select but can't quite remember.

I changed the setting now. I did it before I loaded it up. Maybe it just stops you changing it in game. But if that's the case I don't know why the options are there but unable to select.
