Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence.

Has another band released this as a cover? I've heard it played a few times on Kerrang. Anyone help?

A cover of any song cannot replicate the emotion or drive of the original....something i always tend to find...although there are some definite exceptions of course

Susan Boyle covered it.
I adore the 80's synths on this track.

Just as a spooky side note, the first few lines of this song are:

Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me

Now to put that into context

Love this song! I've been checking out a lot of Depeche Mode's music recently because I love a duo called Future Perfect and Depeche Mode's one of their influences (well according to FP's Facebook page anyway ) Did DM ever release a Greatest Hits/Singles Collection album?

THAT is their name!! I know u told me about them and i was going to search them the other day....YEH!!

And yes..Though i do very much recommend Violator album of which this song is from...its in my top 10 albums ever <3 i adore it

But they have a few hits...what i did was buy their Singles 81 - 85 and the studio albums post-Hits

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Singles-...1864142&sr=8-3

but if not they also have a vol 2 of it

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Singles-...=pd_sim_m_h__1

so you can have both volumes that way

There is also a Hits album of them all i think. But i dont own that :-/

You should look them up I think I mentioned them in the summer. I'll check out those albums and see if either of them are worth buying. I wouldn't want to buy the albums straight away. I will check out the Violator album though. Sounds good!

AIUI ... that's actually a rock remix of the original track by a member of Linkin Park, not a cover version.

As you're a DM virgin, I would go for the 86-88 double.

The Mike Shinoda re-interpretation is the best remix of the track IMHO

You'll be thinking of Lacuna Coil's version with the very lovely Cristina Scabbia

I love it - probably prefer it to the original.

I agree, it's a great song but there are better songs to be found on Violator, World in My Eyes and Halo in particular. Though Enjoy The Silence had some mighty fine remixes.

I looooooooooooove Depeche Mode!

As others have said, if you're a new fan the best place to start is with their Greatest Hits compilations - in particular 'The Singles 81>85' and 'The Singles 86>98'.

My Top 3 favourite studio albums are:

1) Violator
2) Music For The Masses
3) Black Celebration

I cannot wait for their new album next year and I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that they will add a Dublin date on their upcoming tour.
