Tested the way the padding works on the HDR-1000s

Thanks Graham, I'm going for the 2 minute padding at the start.

My test failed. This is what it should've done
Wakeup 05:00 to 05:15
Record Breakfast
Record Only Fools - BBC 11:00
Record Emmerdale 19:00
Record Coro 19:30

It woke up as expect.
Recorded Breakfast which I wasn't expecting.
Recorded Only fools.
Failed to record Emmerdale so I took it out of standby and recorded it manually. Box left out of standby on ITV1HD
Failed to record Coro! so I tried recording manually. Message pops up asking if I want to cancel the recording of Coro (it definitely wasn't recording!). I select yes at which point it starts to record it !

Clearly the software is completely screwed !

Credit is due to Repassac, the problem is almost sure to be related to failure to recognise the AR start signal. Using padding simply creates a manual recording start based on the scheduled start. The auto power on/off may not in fact be needed.

The box clearly was waiting to record Emmerdale which it thought had not yet started.

Usefull info which will help in identifying the problem.

I set it to 2 minutes padding at the start this evening, auto at the end.

I was very disappointed to find that it cut the last couple of minutes off of Merlin.
Nothing to do with an early AR as my Foxsat managed to record the whole programme ?

Nothing else was recording or about to start either !!!!!

well i reset the power on/off to 5.00 - 5-15 and it recorded a program that started not long after 6, now my next test is to turn off the poer on/off timers and go into settings and switch the standby powersave from on, to Normal and see if it records tomorro morning , will come back tomorro with the results.

I doubt the standby power save could make any difference as it does wake up but does not record..

Just checked mine - (Series Record BBC One HD) recording is all there (full credits and a bit more). Rather strange.I was watching it in chase play but I would not think that should make any difference.

Similar experience to you, different program.
Everything recorded OK today except Coronation Street which had the last two minutes cut off. Nothing else being recorded at that time.

Anyone else manage to record coro ok with fixed padding at the start ?

Do you still have the recording? If so please post duration.

Barry (MyHumax forum advise me that he has Corrie set up using AR on three playforms (But not G2):
G1 - complete
T2 - missing last 55 seconds (incl credits)
YV - missing last 55 seconds (incl credits)

So not complete on other playforms, We don't know how they arrive at G2 data - Did anyone get it to record on G2 using AR?

Military Wives was also cut short too.
You would've thought that when it came to AR information the same source would be used.

Mine lost the a bit of the end on Corrie on the G2 box. Others were OK.

Not certain that if you pad only the beginning that AR still works on the end. If padding either end perhaps both ends revert to scheduled plus padding.

Not going to be easy to find out

Sorry for the delay. (Merlin, 2 minutes padding start, end auto.)

Programme started at 01:19, recording ended early at 46:57. (so total running time and 44:38 with exactly 2 minutes missing at the end)

It stopped recording as Merlin had just pushed the boat out and he was about to cry.

Missing was 01:26 of the program and a further 34 seconds of credits. (total 2 minutes)

Foxsat HDR on Auto started recording near the the start and finished about 45 seconds after the credits had finished, it said total running time 48 minutes.

I struggle to see how yours was complete at only 43:54, when my calculations make the length more like 46:38 ?

Anyway I decided not to risk padding after that and set it back to full auto and made sure it was on if anything was set to record.

yep 1 my recordings last night stopped 2 mins before end, with 2 min padding and end set to auto..... think summat needs b done about this sooner rather than later.....

looks like may need to dismiss the 2 min padding and leave on auto and just have the power on/off set....
