I reckon Doug just won't give the evidence to the police because he knows how much it would upset Ste and will be too upset about Ste being in the coma. Either that or it will be destroyed.

I said earlier, but I think that when Ste gets hit by the bus it will smash Doug's phone and that will be the end of the evidence.

I don't think that Doug is wired when he gets the confession off Brendan as why would he also record it on his phone?

I think Doug see's an opportunity and goes for it, and uses his phone to get the confession.

The fact that it is his phone and not a wire makes me think that the police will never hear it.

I can imagine Doug getting wound up again and being all 'Yeah because you would do anything for Ste, wouldn't you, while pathetic old me just sits about like a big waste of space.' and Brendan tells him about it in a 'Yes I would do anything for him, I already have' kind of way. Taking bullets, killing men...true love that is

ETA: Also I highly doubt that Doug will even be thinking about the evidence against Brendan when his husband is lying in a coma near death. Add to that the fact that the last thing Doug hears from him is 'I can't believe our marriage is over before it's begun!' for the very reason of that recording...doubt Doug will give evidence to anyone.

Am on my phone and can't multiquote now when I think on it he can't be on the run because it would be a long time to be away between the wedding and stendan in dublin and we know pa is coming so he has to come back

BH what if the phone gets squashed but doug let's on he has the phone and that he blackmails brendan to stay away from ste and when ste awakes he uses it to make ste stay with him because ste won't remember that the phone got destroyed so ste agrees to go on holiday with doug then at the airport realises that the phone got destroyed and he heads of to dublin to find brendan
