Like I said earlier I'm probably hormonal but I found the whole thing mawkish and stagey.

The intercutting between scenes didn't help.

Basically it was just the scene with Ste, where they told each other what good people they were but dragged out over a whole episode.

I should probably wait and see if I'm in a better mood with it all tomorrow.

Is he talking to Des in-depth though?

How does Des know Brendan just cares too much, whatever that means?

I'm not thinking I'm going to like tonight's, going by everyone's posts. The dialogue's seeming like it's mostly canned and overindulgent.

All I want, is for Brendan to realise he can be who he is, and still let himself love someone, without hurting them. That's all.

He can be as badass as he wants. But I want him to realise he was horribly damaged by his Dad, and it wasn't his fault, and he's not the same, and his life shouldn't be ruined by it.

I hope they manage to write it.

Ha! oh Ste-'Me and God need to have a word then' Ste's probably only have to continue kissing him while Brendan said he was celibate and he'd just go ok

Steven I'm really celibate now-kisses neck- so nothing can happen - whispers in ear

I think they have to make him nice first before they can go back to a more balanced approach or you would get the "he hasn't changed" brigade banging on again.

Hahaha

Oh dont get me wrong it didnt totally work for me either but I can sort of see what they are doing.

Brendan basically thinks hes as bad as his dad, he has faith in god but believes god doesnt return that faith, believes hes no good so tries to do some good in an attempt to feel hes capable of good amongst the bad.

I like it on paper, didnt quite work on screen but i did like it.

İf they wanted just a little bit fun they succeed cause other than this the scene was pointless, i expected more

Thank Christ the scene was short ”

But she wouldn't be cute, Hanni. Only cute kids can be wise.

It was mercifully short.

Brendan seeking refuge in the church, and being able to be calm and respectful with Father Des unlike with the counsellor, and the way he's being contemplative and struggling to be better but still unable to forgive himself, all works for me. It feels right, after everything he's been forced to think about in and since Later.

The scene with Daisy was a big misstep though. It gave us nothing that we couldn't get more believably from the Father Des conversations, and it felt as if the show thinks we're stupid, that we need everything sledgehammered.

The rest of it, the Mitzeee/Maxine scenes, and Myra, and the Kanes, was good. And Emmett was great even in the Daisy scene, fighting to keep it unsentimental.

I liked what Brendan said to Daisy, the actual scene didn't even make me cringe, but I agree, it could have been done without.

And I hated the giving money to Myra. It was just...ugh.

Brendan and Father Des are brilliant though.

Hmm is it me or do Cheryl and Brendan keep talking about their dad in the past tense like they haven't seen him for a long time?

Yeah thats how I feel really.

I do like what they are doing with this forgiveness thing, I really do. Hes not seeking forgiveness from those he has wronged because right now he cant even forgive himself for his wrongdoings. Hes wrote himself off as evil just like his father

There is a middle ground there I feel, that seeking forgiveness can actually give you the peace you need and Brendan craves, he just has to work that out.

But right now hes trying to do good to feel good, thats natural.

I loved the Daisy scene, if only for the fact that Emmett looked fcuking amazing in it

Shallow and I don't even care. I highly enjoyed the Kane stuff though. I do like Callum in the family dynamic, shame they messed up Ash and Lacey with this bloody Ally shiz.

I did like Maxine tonight, she really might give Mitzeee the new lease of life she needs. Nice.

And Martha was great, as always. I even don't hate Callum like I used to.

I'm C&S, I'm a hollyoaks viewer and ... I like one of the teens.

I hope Maddie is a good tissue match for Daisy.

I like him with his Mum a lot actually. And I don't worry about Ally, he's godawful but Martha will surgically remove his balls before she kicks him out onto the curb.

Ash is the weak link in that family for me now. What an unforgiving judgemental harridan she is.

I like Callum too! I always have to be honest. I wouldn't class him as one of the teen gang anyway

My really big problem with all the religion stuff is that if they follow it to its logical conclusion then Brendan will probably have to hand himself in for the crimes he has committed.

That is a big thing with catholics, you can be forgiven but you need to honestly repent, which I think Brendan does, but you also have to do penance for your sins.

It's been a long time since I was in church but I think that's right.

If they are not going to follow through with it then I don't see the point.

To be fair, since the end of Caddie (), Callum seems to have had about 2 scenes with the rest of them. He's a faaaaaamily boy (said in the voice of Peggy Mitchell)

Oh LOL, as if we'd be that lucky.

I did wonder if Brendan was going to offer a kidney for a second, and then realised it might not be quite appropriate.
