Broken Christmas Cake - help!
I've just "fed" my Christmas Cake, but while turning it over, I stupidly managed to end up with it broken in half (don't ask!).Any ideas for a fix here? I figure it's too early to try and "stick" it together as obviously I won't be covering it for weeks yet. Any help appreciated!! |

I'll ask my brother when he gets in, he works in a bakery. He makes our cake.

He says to use apricot jam but wait until just before you ice it.

Thanks. Does he think it will be ok to just keep it as it is for now and keep feeding it brandy until I'm ready to cover it in marzipan?
I was relatively confident that I wouldn't have to bin it, I'm just concerned it will dry out between now and Christmas. |

Yes, I would jam it too just before icing it. It will be fine until then, just keep feeding both bits till you are ready to ice it.
Push the bits back together, that will stop the broken sides from drying out but the booze should help stop that happening. |
