Excuse me but Deirdre Hunt is Deirdre Barlow’s maiden name.

Why doesn't she leave then. She is not forced to work there!
She is asking for the axe I think.

Well I don't know how slagging off her place of work and bosses is going to help matters! Why not just leave?

Actual headline: "Working on Corrie can be soul destroying"

Probably followed by "but most of the time I love my job". I've not read the article but don't jump on her on the back of a headline like this, it's probably completely out of context.

It's probably something she says in that new documentary she is doing but like Pete says she will probably follow it up by saying something about the good times as well. The newspaper is probably sensationalising her words out of context.

I'd say she's not even talking about her own soul being destroyed, but probably someone like Julie Goodyear. You know how even the simplest things can be twisted to sound like something else.

She should more on I say. She made the character really dull.

How likely is that? Who would voluntarily give up whatever fantastic salary she's on?

There's no way Deirdre would leave the street alive?... Where would her character go?,, He whole life is on that street

They've taken a snippet of something and twisted it to make her look bad.

In the original quote she talks about how if you're in the middle of a major storyline then the working hours can be draining and 'soul-destroying'. They're making it sound like she hates the show.

They can kill her off, and Ken can have Deirdre stuffed and as a decoration with a lamp shade on her head.

Was looking at this before and discussing with my mum how newspapers take one line out of something they say and make it sound so terrible..

The bit I read (in the Mail I think) did make her sound a bit moany. Basically she loves CS but doesn't like the long days and hanging around. I wouldn't have thought it was that much of a problem though as she's not really on screen very often these days.

Doesn't that support her point?

Pretty much every actor moans about having to hang around which I can understand. Gosh having to wait for set appointments drives me bonkers!

Doesn't mean they're self absorbed, just that it's a part of the job that annoys them. I am a PA for a good company, absolutely lovely boss and great team with decent money but I have to take about 5 hours worth of minutes every week. I HATE IT! It's difficult, time consuming, disruptive. Without question the worst part of my job. Just because many people are in a far worse position doesn't mean I don't have a right to moan. I appreciate how lucky I am (in so many aspects) but it doesn't make that task suddenly bearable and fun!
