Well you can say what you like about someone who has died, obviously. I am more interested in the people who are still alive. We only get one side of the story when someone has died and it must be dreadful for his family. Very little evidence and at the moment the media are hysterical about padeophilia in showbiz. It is time to STOP all these articles about TV stars being arrested and wait until the police make arrests before speculating as to who these people MAY be. I still find it hard to believe that so many people were molested, nobody went to the police, some say there was so traumatised that did not tell their partners etc until recently and then appear on national TV, discussing all the details and rushing off to claim financial compensation!! The Headmistress of the Reform School that Saville visited insists that NOT ONE girl mentioned Saville behaviour. He came to the school with tickets for his show, ciggies and money!!! In her opinion the girls were not going to "kill the golden goose!" by telling on him!! She seems to have missed the point that these girls were underage and should have been protected!!

as i said before in another thread.......some stories coming out of this scandal will be true, some will be exaggerated and some will be lies

Are they using the names of dead people to cover up the here and now. If it is untrue it is a terrible shame that LR is blackened plus his poor family. Also if it is true then I dont know what to think as it wasnt him who was trying to rape.

I'd be very sad if this turns out to be true. I haven't seen Rossiter's name anywhere on the web in connection with this kind of behaviour (as opposed to other names which appear time and again).

Rossiter was a womaniser (Sue MacGregor wrote about her affair with him in her memoirs, IIRC). But who knows? The Savile allegations are giving lots of victims of this awful kind of behaviour the courage to come forward.

There are people still living who could and should be brought to trial. So far only Glitter and Starr have been questioned by the police.

That is the whole point of them.

The tabloids have been ordered to muck rake about dead celebs so that the public tire of the allegations.

Then they will refuse to believe the true stories about the organised abuse involving politicians and other establishment figures that was carried out in childrens care homes in the past 40 years.

The news agenda in this country is constantly manipulated in this way. It is all about misdirection. They want people to be looking in one direction so they can not see what is going on elsewhere

I doubt it, this story does not mention the complainant other ones have , so either the complainat wants to remain anonymous or it is a dubious source.

Also whilst if this is true then it will have been awful for the person this to be perfectly honest is not paedophile territory, it would be a sexual assault by the unamed men involved and Rossiter watching , so I dont think it is the big shock mentioned.

If I were Leonard Rossiters family I'd sue any newspaper that named him in connection with sexual abuse - let them prove it. Same with any other dead people's families; any live person arrested will get the opportunity to contest, with the help of lawyers, the allegations made against them, but the dead can't speak so it's up to their families to speak for them.

The whole thing is getting so ridiculous, I fully expect Eric and Ernie to be next to be accused, with the Daily Mail ever so helpfully reminding us of their famous 'in bed together' scenes. Or will it be the Ronnie Barker, with his son's proclivities used as 'evidence' against him? I guess some people are drawing up a list already.

PS. I'd better make it clear that I've only used these men's names as examples of how ANY dead person could be accused of paedophilia or other sexual offences, I don't for a minute think any of them are guilty of anything.

I don't like the use of the word "ordered" in the above paragraph - they make it sound like this was part of the attack, when in fact this bloke was an extra, presumably being paid to act out the part of a gold paint smothered naked person.

If he felt he was being "ordered" to do anything he didn't like, why didn't he just refuse the job. He was hardly in the same position as an under-aged child, in a childrens home or in hospital, being taken advantage of by a pervy visitor to their place of care.

Obviously, I don't know if the "attempted rape" did actually happen, but if he was that bothered by what happened, why not come forward when Rossiter died all those years ago? Call me cynical, but it seems that if you come forward now, you have the sniff of compensation.

It has swiftly gone beyond the boundaries of bad taste, to the extent where nobody can decide what to believe anymore.

Let's face it, anybody could come out and say something about a person who is dead, as there is not going to be any comeback.

Genuinely innocent names could be blackened amidst this grotesque 'campaign' and they don't even have a right to reply.
