Went to comet to get a tablet

I queued outside Comet this morning along with a lot of people. I was hoping to get a tablet at a marked down price but nothing in store had been reduced Anyone know when they will start reducing stock ?. One of the staff was telling another customer that they are not being run by Comet anymore which we know the administrators are now in charge

Administrators called in yesterday Still planning what to do. Will attempt to find a buyer. If not then will start to sell stock off at agreed percentages.

Expecting everything to suddenly be massively reduced just 24 hours after the administrators have been called in is rather optimistic!

I would imagine that most decent smaller tech will be grabbed back by the suppliers.

Hahaha. The hyenas trying to pick at the dead carcass got turned away did they.

If comet are in administration then yes theres likely to be reductions, but if there are people thinking they'll be able to get iPads, or Widescreen TVs at 'Everything must go' prices, they will be very much mistaken

It was on the internet and in the papers that stores were closed yesterday for marking down prices.

I dont see whats wrong with people trying to save themselves some money in these harsh economic times , And if anyone can then good luck to them.

Usually any stock not yet paid for by the company in administration still belongs to the supplier/manufacturer and could in theory be clawed back. This would be even more important at this busy time of year as the manufacturers would not like to see large amounts of discounted stock causing their other customers problems!

Obviously anything that has been paid for has to be sold and the administrators will reduce the prices to clear the stock quickly as they do not want to have the cost of staff and property hanging around too long!

I do feel sorry for the staff who again are suffering from the mismanagement of one of our largest retailers, interestingly originally owned by the same company that owned Woolworths!

I just hope anyone that buys (or even has bought) something over £100 uses a credit card, as any warranty under sale of Goods Act might be scarce.

This. Totally.

If Comet have yet to pay for the goods, the suppliers will be wanting them back asap.

Most of the big ticket Items are supplied on a sale or return basis, so will be taken back by the suppliers. The only tablets that Comet will have in a closing down sale will be cheap no name ones.

I'm sure all those thousands who may lose their jobs at Comet will echo your sentiments!

What do you mean by that comment .. ??

I feel sorry that these people are losing their jobs and at Xmas which could not be worse .
But myself and other people are not responsible for the stores closure and redundancies And I don't think having a go at people who are looking for a bargain is necessary

Once they start to sign on they will be worthless drains on society aka the tax payer, and as such any opinions they may have well they can keep them to their selves.

Or maybe just maybe they will be allowed to vent them on the many threads on here slating the unemployed bums who should kiss the feet of every employed worker they meet, and thank them for the crumbs they get given by the tax payer. (providing they walk 20 miles to the nearest library to use the computer and internet to do so.)
